i have a bearded dragon and my brother had a lepoard gecko and they were confortable with 4-7 crickets 1 time every 1 or 2 days.

i used to breed a type of lizard called a western fence lizard, or blue bellys due to their belly that ranges from white to a dark alarming blue depending on its mood. I fed them 15 crickets a day (although i usually had 5-8 lizards in a single tank) but they could easily go 3-5 days without any difference at all.

Sorry to be a bit negative here but - if people did their research before getting exotic pets I wouldn't be over-run with 'unwanted' specimens every year ! In the last 12 months alone, I've rescued over three hundred reptiles that were in bad condition because the people who had them didn't have a clue how to look after them !

It totally depends on which lizard you have. Most omnivorous lizards (lizards which eat insects and salads) eat a lot of insects in their youth and mostly salads as they grow older. They should have their own food bowl which is stuffed with salads (again, I can't say which salad in particular because I don't know which lizard you're talking about), and should be refilled whenever it starts to look a bit empty.

Also, spray the salad with water and put the food bowl in the cooler end of the tank. This should help it remain moist for longer without it wilting due to the heat.

As for how many insects a lizard should eat, that depends entirely on the lizard, it's age and it's condition (for example, shedding status, brumation etc.).

Are Thorny devils endangered or threatened?

The Thorny devil, an unusual spiky lizard of Australia, is currently neither endangered not officially threatened, but its numbers are decreasing. These desert-dwelling reptiles are protected under Australia's Wildlife Conservation Act.

As with many Australian native animals, its greatest threat comes from habitat destruction and the incursions of humans into its environment. The introduction of feral cats also poses a threat as it is only a relatively small lizard, growing up to 20cm in length. In its native habitat, it has few natural predators; among them are goannas and birds of prey.

How much does an Zebra-tailed lizard weigh?

The Zebra-tailed lizard typically weighs between 4-8 grams, with males usually being larger than females. This species of lizard is known for their slender bodies and long tails, which help them move swiftly in their desert habitats.

What type of habitat do blue belly lizards live in and what should you feed them?

HABITAT/CAGE NESSESSITIES

Blue belly lizards have a habitat ranging from coastal scrub, to forest. If your planning on keeping one as a pet, I would sugest putting it in a 10-20 gallon tank or larger. You'll probably want to floor the enclosure with a soft woodchip, or sand bottom. Sand is easier to clean when the animal takes a deuce. Also you probally want pet store bought sand to ensure it is clean and free of microscopic mites and bacteria which can kill your lizard pal. Place a few clean sticks or hollow logs (preferably store bought- because they're sterilized) in the cage so the animal can hide when it feels it needs to, minimising stress, and ensuring better health. The cage MUST have a rock with a heat lamp over it. The lizard, being cold blooded, will need to sit on the rock and soak up the lamps warmth for energy. Also make sure this is fresh clean water for the animal to drink. This means you actually have to go to the store and pick up a special reptile water holder thing. No ziplock plastic containers with water buried halfway in the dirt for mud and crap to get kicked in it, you don't want to drink out of the toilet, neither does it.

FOOD, GUESS WHAT, IT NEEDS TO EAT

This species of lizard is an insectavore, scientific jibberish for -bug eater. You will want to keep it mainly on a diet of crickets and meal worms. These may not have enough protein or nutrients, luckily you can go to the pet store and grap some lizard nutrient powder. Its a type of edible powder you can roll your crickets in before you feed your lizard them. For better feeding advice ask your local petshop.

Why is Cornwall called the lizard peninsula?

Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula is named after the village of Lizard, which is the most southern point of mainland Great Britain. The name is believed to come from the Cornish word "lysardh," meaning "high court." The peninsula is shaped like a lizard's head and tail on the map, which likely contributed to the name.

Does brontosaurus mean thunder lizard?

Yes Brontosaurus does mean Thunder Lizard.

Why is terrible lizard not the appropriate name for a dinosaur?

Members of the Class Dinosauria are not, in fact, lizards, nor really reptiles at all. Dinosaurs were warmblooded and walked with their legs directly below their body, whereas reptiles are defined as cold-blooded animals with sprawled or semi-sprawled legs. Furthermore, all lizards have a parietal eye on the top of their heads, and no dinosaur skulls show the necessary markings to have such an eye. For these reasons the literal translation of the title Dinosaur is a misnomer.

Does the Goanna care for itself as a baby?

No. Goanna mommies are good mommies. They often try to lay their eggs on termite hills, so their offspring can eat termites once hatched. The mother then brings food to her babies, once they get hungry for more than termites. Goannas are protective and actually quite nurturing of their young.

Is there a color of paint which lizard dislike and will discourage them from going near?

There is no specific color of paint that lizards universally dislike. Lizards are more likely to be deterred by strong scents, textures, or tastes rather than specific colors. If you want to keep lizards away, focus on removing sources of food and shelter rather than relying on colors.

Is a glass snake a kind of lizard?

Lizards have ear slits and eyelids. Snakes do not. Glass lizards, while having no feet, do have ear slits and eyelids. That makes them a lizard rather than a snake.

Not all lizards have ear slits (genus cophosaurus). Not all lizards have eyelids (infraorder gekkota excluding the genus eublepharinae). Glass lizards, however, have both these parts.

What is a baby lizzard called?

a baby lizerd....................

I found a baby lizard i believe outside in the cold weather and brought him inside where its warmer will the lizard survive?

First, you should identify the species of lizard, and if possible return it to the habitat you found it in. If this is not possible (ie, temperatures have fallen below freezing), then you will need to acquire a cage appropriate for the size of the lizard. Research the heating and lighting requirements. Many lizards require UVB lighting, and they must have thermostat-controlled heat provided for them. The setup for a reptile can be expensive.

Once you have provided a cage with proper heat and light, a small shallow water dish, a hide box, climbing branches if the reptile is arboreal, and appropriate food (most lizards are insectivores--buy crickets at a pet store and coat them with calcium powder before feeding them), you should schedule a vet appointment.

Unless you plan to release the lizard in spring, it will require a vet checkup and fecal exam for parasites. Wild lizards all carry internal parasites, and these can quickly build to lethal levels in captivity, and must be treated promptly. If you plan to release the lizard, then use newspaper to line the cage and change it daily. Sterilize the cage each week.

Mist with water, or provide a humid-hide (directions can be found online) to provide proper humidity for the species of lizard.

If all of the above sounds like too much work, or is too expensive, take the lizard to a wildlife rehabilitator. Do not keep it a day longer than necessary to contact the wildlife rehabber, because the longer it is kept in inappropriate conditions, the more likely it is that the lizard will succumb to stress, develop and infection, and die.
