According to most accounts, the Olympic rings were adopted by Baron Pierre de Coubertin (founder of the modern Olympic Movement) in 1913 after he saw a similar design on an artifact from ancient Greece. At the end of each Olympic Games, the mayor of that host-city presents the flag to the mayor of the next host-city. It then rests at the town hall of the next host-city for four years until the Opening Ceremony of their Olympic Games. Every time a country hosts the Olympics, a new emblem is created, with new meaning behind its conception.

the london 2012 olympics will be good and bad for the eastside of london and the uk as a whole.

for the eastside it will be good because it will bring 12,000 jobs permantly and thousands more temoreroly. there will be transport improvements to stations and tube lines. houses and flats will be built for the athletes but afterwards they will be given to key workers. but many people and buisnesses are fustrated as they were made to move. 10 percent of the buisnesses were not able to find another place to settle down so they were forced to shut down. also afterwards london will be very pollouted and messy from all the litter. some sports venues will stay up so locals may use them.

for the uk as a whole it will be very expensive especilally in this economic time.
