Does a Lowe's sales specialist earn commission?
No more commissions as of today, feb 11, 2012. Lowes just announced a few days ago that sales commissions will no longer be paid. they will pay sales associates one half of 2011's commissions earned, divided by 52 weeks, and add that tiny amount to future paychecks. Folks in appliances are going to take a huge hit. I have been at Lowes since August of last year, and rather than prorating my 18 weeks of service to Lowes for commission, they divided mine by the whole year. It works out that I will make an additional $2.57/ week. I can understand they may not want to pay huge commissions the appliance sales people, but to screw newer hires really annoys me. I really like working there, but I have no desire to work for $10.45/ hr with no chance of a raise until september.
To sum things up.... great place to work, as long as you are willing to work at a low starting wage and stay there.
In Florida you must have a licence to do any home repair improvement or construction. This could be a tradesman's licence or a certified contractor's licence. As a licenced contractor in Florida I know this. As an independent subcontractor for Lowes ( in Virginia) I also know that Lowes can require whatever they want. For Lowes you must have a Contractor's licence in VA as well as a business licence for the location in which you operate. DO NOT confuse legal requirements in any state with your relationship with a major retailer. Lowes can say as a term of agreement (NOT EMPLOYMENT) anything they want. You want to work for Lowes? I don't question the source that seems to be axactly what lowe's business plan is. However as a publicly traded company the obvious mission is to make a profit for the share holders.

1) Take the G train (the light green line) to the Smith-9th Street Station.
2) When you get off the train, you'll be on 9th Street, which crosses a stream. Cross the bridge over the stream, and continue on 9th Street until you get to 2nd Avenue.
3) At 2nd Avenue, turn right, and walk one block to 10th Street. Make another right onto 10th Street (so you will be facing back the way you came over the bridge). Lowe's is just ahead of you, down the street.
OR
1) You can also take the M (of the J-M-Z, the brown line), the R (of the N-R-Q-W, the yellow line) or the F (of the B-D-F-V, the orange line) to 4th Avenue.
2) You'll get out on 4th Avenue, between 9th and 10th Streets. Walk west on 10th Street to 2nd Avenue. Lowe's will be just ahead of you, down the block. Cross 2nd and walk half a block to it.
