What did the magna carta include?
The Magna Cart was created in England in 1215. This document represented the first time a written set of rules was dictated to a King of England by the subjects of the country, and led to the type of constitutional law we see today.
What guaranteed that not even the king or queen is above law?
Well lets give an example of that: Great Britain. What Guarantees that that King or Queen isn't above the law? First, the last King to succeed in that, Charles I, was beheaded. Second, During the English Civil-War of the mid 1600's, of which Charles's death is a part, A dictator named Oliver Cromwell, who had been the head of parliament, ruled with an iron fist, so much so that it was decided that a parliament with a constitutional monarchy was necessary, and he was overthrown after a long and bloody war. The next few Kings had learned from Charles and never repeated his offenses again, even if they wanted to.
Finally, the Catholic Monarchy was overthrown, and a German, Protestant family was invited to rule, William and Mary of Orange. Protestants of course were more liberal in the Constitutional sense in that period, and so ever since then Parliament has reigned supreme.
Another example is George Washington. His army officers wanted to install him as King of America, but he refused. When it came time to elect a new President, after the Constitution was ratified, Washington was trusted with the office, not only because of his refusal of the crown, but because he was childless, and so that is why there is no King in America.
So to summarize, Kings are not above the law because since the English Civil-War, any King or Queen that tries to rule above the law dies...quickly!
Why is it important to limit the power of a king?
Because otherwise he/she could do what ever they like I.E trial people unfairly or unfairly pay people and why they do this could just be down to culture's or even depending on the way you look and just by looking at what happened to the dictators in the pas have a king would just be like another dictator.

How did the magna carta increase democracy in England?
Perhaps the Magna Carta's main contribution to democracy was that it was the first document in English history to limit the power of the monarch. Until then, there had been a belief that the monarch was the absolute ruler and therefore could do whatever they pleased. The Magna Carta forced the king to accept that there should be some laws that even the monarchy had to obey. This established the principle of the rule of law, meaning that law itself should be the absolute ruler, not kings and queens (or, later in history, governments and parliaments). The rule of law established certain rights for all people, such as the right to a fair trial. Over the years these rights have been expanded in ways that are discussed in other chapters in this unit.
In John's time there was no parliament. Because the Magna Carta established the council of 25 barons whom the king was supposed to consult on matters that were important to the country, some people also believe it sowed the seed for parliamentary democracy in England. Even though John was not required to take the barons' advice, this did mark the beginning of the power being shared by more people. The running of the state was now the concern of a group rather than an individual.
The Magna Carta had alot to do with freedoms these barons wanted. We asked for some of the same freedoms. Also, while not exact, the idea of the right to a jury of your peers started here

Freeman was later changed to include everyone.
Who made the King sign the Magna Carta?
It was King John I of England.
The Magna Carta (Great Charter of Freedoms), is the first major English legal charter. It was written in Latin and issued by King John (reigned 1199-1216) and the barons at Runnymede on June 15, 1215. It required the king to proclaim certain rights (for freemen), respect certain legal procedures, and accept that the monarch's will itself could be bound by the law. It was a most significant influence on the long historical process that led to the rule of law in the English-speaking world.
Most people think that King John and the barons actually signed it, but there were in fact no signatures on the original charter, rather a seal placed by King John. In fact, the words of the Magna Carta ("Data per manum nostram") explicitly state that the document was personally issued by the king's hand. The King and the barons were following common law and practice of their time, that a seal was sufficient to certify a deed, in front of the proper witnesses. The barons neither signed nor attached their seals to it.
The barons formed a committee of 25 "Enforcers of the Magna Carta". The information below is combined from the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and "An historical essay on the Magna charta of King John" (Richard Thomson - 1829). They are listed with Thomson's order and spelling, but with certain titles and dates added from Oxford. (See related links below.)
