How do manatees get oxygen and water?
Welll.........They live in the water and if they want oxygen the go out of the water! ITS SO MAGICAL!!!!!!!
Manatees are mammals, yes. They are warm blooded and, also breath air with lungs that, on average, are two thirds the length of their body. Also, they have hair, as most other mammals. Even though they may appear to be related to dolphins, or maybe whales, they are more closely related to the elephant. Lastly they give birth, and suckle their calves, as other mammals do, only they do all this under water. For more details see sites listed below.
Could the west Indian manatee be considered a keystone species?

There are 4 species within the Family of Sirenia throughout the world:
-West Indian Manatee: Which populates the Carribbean coastlines, and Florida, but can migrate great distances with warm water during the summer months (from Florida to Texas and up the Eastern Seaboard).
-West African Manatee: Found on the western coast of the continent of Africa.
-Amazonian Manatee: A strictly river-going species native to the Amazon River Basin.
-Dugong: Found in the Indo-Pacific region. There was formerly a species called the Stellar's Sea Cow which was the only cold-water species found in the Bearing Sea, and the coast of Alaska. It was hunted to extinction within 30 years of its discovery.
Do manatees have bellybuttons?
Yes. Because whales give birth to their young just like humans do, their young require an umbilical cord in order to eat while in the womb.
since they're mammals, yes. But I've never seen one so I don't know what they look like.
Answer I do think that whales have belly buttons but I do want to know why the scientist don't say so.
What is special about a manatee?
Manatees are extremely curious and gentle. They will approach people in the water to check them out, and come close enough to allow you to touch them. How can you help save the manatees?
If you live in Florida or somewhere manatees live, you can put up signs and posters, and if you sometimes travel by boat, try to tell the driver to go slowly so as not to run over the manatees. If you're living someplace where manatees don't live (like Iraq, North Dakota, etc...), you can invest money to websites that save animals from extinction.

No. Heifer calves only have four little nipples/teats where the udder will be after they have their first calf. Heifer calves, when the do become mothers themselves, are no longer considered heifer calves, or a calf at all, but rather a cow or a first-calf heifer. Their udder typically begins to form during the last trimester of pregnancy (if a heifer does indeed get settled after reaching puberty), and will become swollen with milk once her first calf arrives, making her ready and able to give milk after giving birth.
