Marilyn Monroe was a singer, actress and model (triple threat) of the 1950s. She was born in 1926 as Norma Jeane but changed her name when in 1956 although she was using the name publicly since 1946. She was on the first cover of Playboy and completely reshaped the idea of sexy for women. She still impacts the present including the movie, Burlesque in which her song, Diamonds are a girl's best friend, was played and My Week With Marilyn in which Michelle Williams is playing Marilyn Monroe. She died 2 months after her 36th birthday. She was 5 feet and 5.5 inches. Her dress size was a 12. She was voted 'Sexiest Woman of the Century' by People Magazine in 1999. What was Marilyn Monroe's child hood like?

Her name wasn't Marilyn Monroe for starters, so technecally Marilyn Monroe never had a child hood. Norma Jean Baker (future Marilyn Monroe) had a very sad, dysfunctional childhood. Her mother was in a mental institute and she was bounced around in orphanges, she had several people interested in adopting her but her "aunt" (Marilyn's/Norma Jeans mother best friend aka marilyn's current guardian) never signed the papers to pass guardianship. You can find them on eBay if you search diligently for a painting that offers a good likeness of Marilyn and that pleases you. There are hundreds of really crappy, ugly paintings on eBay that look nothing at all like Marilyn Monroe. Hold out until you see one you really like, and then grab it before it's gone!

A few words of advice: It is better to search and find a painting you like and buy it already painted, than to commission a painting by an artist. If you see what you want and it's already painted, buy it fast! If you submit a photograph to a painter to paint a portrait for you, you may be very displeased with the results of the final painting.

During The War, Marilyn's young husband was in the Merchant Marine, so she (like millions of other wives wanting their husbands to return soon) went to work at a munitions plant. _Yank_ magazine happened to be taking photos at that factory as a reminder that these women were busy helping the war effort. But she was known for her commitment to acting and her constant feminine, venerability, and child like ways!

The Milk Fund For Babies in 1957- Marilyn gave her earnings from the world premiere of The Prince and The Showgirl to this charity

1958 March of Dimes Fashion Parade that aided children with polio

Donated $1000 to a children's welfare organization that gave free breakfasts to underpriveledged children.

Marilyn visited an orphanage in Mexico and wrote a check for $1000 while the press was there- and after they left she tore it up and wrote a new one for $10,000.

SANE- an organization dedicated to eliminating nuclear weapons.

Her last public appearance was at Dodger Stadium for a benefit for muscular dystrophy.

She created a character that the entire nation fell in love with (she wasn't stupid). She was genuinely a good person, but had some hidden demons, and although she took her own life (... or did she?) .... She became very successful even with those "demons". She's a better, more feminine and realistic body size than the average woman in movies and TV anymore.

If anyone had the affair, it was Bobby, since he was a married man, while Jackie the recent widow. It is common knowledge that they were close to one another, especially in the period following JFK's death.
