It's a rimless cartridge well suited for lever action rifles with tubular magazines (loaded with round nose or flat nose bullets that line up with the primers of the bullets loaded ahead of them-pointed bullets can accidentally bust the primer ahead of it and disaster can result in tubular magazines) and even though it's a close second in popularity to the .30-30 Winchester (rifle and caliber) it is slightly more powerful and is an excellent choice for elk, deer and black bear at intermediate hunting ranges. (usually 125 yds max)

No one can really explain why some calibers and rifles are more commercially successful than others, but those who own and hunt with the .35 REM (usually in Marlins lever guns) are very pleased with the results. As a former Model 94 Winchester .30-30 owner I certainly wouldn't be ashamed to show up to a social gathering with a excellent Marlin 336 rifle chambered in this very fine caliber.

the models 780,781,782,and783 were replaced with models 880,881,882,and 883 in 1988. I believe they were made about 10 years, till 1998. then the 800 series would have been replaced with the 900 series. the serial # would give you the year. hope this helps. catfishiowa

You may want to try Wisners and Brownells. Both of these companies have websites and limited parts. The 1894 and 1895 used the same parts as the model 93.. Except for some of the spring designs which is what you are probably looking for. I went throught the same effort as I recently inherited a model 93 30-30.
