Do the female teats of an English mastiff get smaller after the first pregnancy?

they make shrink back down some, but 99% of them still hang/sag somewhat from my previous experience with them. My females never went back up yet my friends female's did a little...hard to say.

I raise cane corso mastiffs. there teats should not be any smaller then the first time.if teats are small then milk may not be being produced at the rate it should be and the teat will appear small..also please be warned mastiffs are known to get hook worms.and can cause alot of problems i just lost 7 pups to hook worm.mother appears normal but the larva is passed threw milk and blood to the pups and the pups will die in 2 weeks. Matiffs are also known for parvo.you should have the dog checked at a vet..my pups were fine big strong but with in 2 weeks they all died within 12 hours of each other. And its very painfull to pups ..heed the warnings with mastiffs..

Are tibetan mastiff are dangerous?

Generally no, and they are definitely not recommended for inexperienced dog owners.

The Tibetan Mastiff is a strong-willed and occasionally stubborn dog. It can be self-centred at times, and can be ignorant of commands, so it requires a confident and experienced owner to be in charge of training.

The Tibetan Mastiff is also likely to be aggressive or suspicious towards other people and animals. Early and regular socialisation is definitely compulsory, as well as supervision from the owner to prevent unwanted aggression. Barking may also be a potential behavioural problem.

The Tibetan Mastiff also sheds heavily, and is not an ideal pet for those allergic to dogs. These large dogs also slobber and take up quite a lot of room at home as well as in a car.

However, this breed is devoted to its owner and can make an excellent watchdog due to its protective instincts. Its exercise requirements and energy level is also lower than most other large breeds. The Tibetan Mastiff may be the right breed for you if you are looking for this type of dog or is interested in rare breeds, but you must bear in mind that they are prone to aggression, barking, shedding, slobbering and can be hard to train. It is highly recommended that you do further research on this breed before deciding to acquire one.

Can you breed an English mastiff and a great Pyrenees?

Yes. There isn't very many dogs you can not crossbreed, however, there's more that you shouldn't. In this case the German Shepard I would advise be the male since the great Pyrenees male may produce a puppy larger than the female Shepard can birth. Males primarily determine the size, while the female determines the number of offspring.

What dog is the biggest bull mastiff or mastiff?

Hercules

That is not true (Hercules, who the heck is Hercules??) The breed has a standard that we as breeders must breed to. The males are to be around 25-27" tall at the shoulders, females 24-25" tall. Any taller than the standard for the breed is a no no. It is important to keep to the AKC breed standard if we wish to keep the bullmastiff looking like a bullmastiff.

Who would win if a pit bull vs mastiff?

pitbulls fight because they feel it pleases their "owner" so really all your doing is taking advantage of your dogs love and need for approval from you...when the only time the poor dog gets any love and affection and most of the time food is when it wins a fight they learn to fight. Forcing any animal to fight is a cruel and barbaric non sport and you should feel ashamed for even caring who would win a dog fight

Do mastiffs shed?

Bullmastiffs don't shed a lot, but they do require regular grooming. Their short hair can be cleaned easily with a bristle brush and they should only be bathed when it's needed; after a romp in the mud or swimming.

Are English mastiffs aggressive?

No because they can be very aggresive to other dogs if not trained properly, but if they are trained well, they can be friendly to small dogs.

Answer: The previous answer is not true, mastiffs are very people friendly and dog friendly. They will only attack if they feel threaten by the person/dog. True some training does play a role in how they treat others. Some dogs just have different personalities or traits. You need to test out how they will react to the children by doing certain tests, first have the dog be on one side of a fence and your child be on the other, see how the dog reacts to the child then. If there are no signs of aggression then put the dog on a leash, have the child, from about five feet away from the dog's reach, walk back and forth around the dog. If there are no signs of aggression, I believe it is safe to introduce the dog to your child. Just remember dogs are instinctively protective over their food and some possessions, so feed your dogs away from other animals, children, etc.

I have two mastiffs and they are the friendliest dogs I have ever had. There is just something about them, they would do anything to protect their owner and you have a life long bond with them. They are very loyal and great dogs. I recommend them to anyone.

Answer

They are fine with small dogs, by their very nature they are a calm dog, they are not normally aggressive. However, as with ANY breed of dog they should be properly trainded and socialised. I am a member of mastiff forum, they have loads of photos of members Mastiffs, and plenty of these people have small dogs. There is one very cute photo of a HUGE male mastiff, laid down, enjoying 2 jack russle puppies climb all over his face. I own 1 of these amazing creatures (Mastiff), the biggest worry I would have with a Mastiff and a tiny dog, is the little 1 getting stood on, but as I have said, plenty of people have a mastiff and a small dog with no trouble atall. A mastiff sees it as his job to project his pack, and that includes any other pets you have. Answer

I have an English Mastiff myself, and he is great with children. We have a neighbor who has 4 kids and he gets along perfectly with them. Some people mistake an English Mastiff playing and think they are fighting, prior to the reason they are so big, but that is how they play with others. But yes, in my opinion, i think that they are perfect with children.

It costs us about $240/week give or take. Soooooo over the course of a year it is not unusual to see the food bills totalling around $3000/year.

If you are spending over $200 a week for you mastiffs food (unless you have more than 5)...You will have or already have a very fat mastiff..It is not necessary to feed them large amounts..People have the perception large dog..large amounts of food. And they will eat whatever you put in front of them. Talk to your vet about the proper nutrition for your Mastiffs age and currant needs. Please.. Obesity is one of the most common causes of short lifespans in the breed..

Why is a bull mastiff on the dangerous dog list?

Bullmastiffs are not dangerous dogs, they are just big dogs. They are actually gentle giants. They do need proper training during puppyhood, but they are a great family dog. Very loving, affectionate, loyal companions. In reality, the key for having a good dog in any breed is consistent training during puppyhood, followed with lots of love and praise.

The Bullmastiff is an exceptional dog.
