Is English mastiff and rott mix a good breed?
If you want a very large dog, then a Mastiff/ Rottweiler mix would be great!
Both the Mastiff and Rottweiler breeds are prone to develop bone and joint conditions that can be the result of poor diet or the result of genetics. You should read up on both breeds and become familiar with these possible conditions, to decide if you would be able to care for a large animal that could develop painful mobility issues.
What would an English mastiff mixed with a great Pyrenees look like?
Absolutely gorgeous. Our Sophie only has 1/4 of the Pyrenees, but we constantly get compliments on how pretty she is.
Definitely not.
Bullmastiffs are very dominant dogs, and if you have two male mastiffs in the same house hold, it will be a constant fight for alpha male. It would have been better if you got them at the same time, but there isn't much you can do. You can always try it out, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I know this from personal experience. I once had a 2 year old male bullmastiff, and brought home a male bullmastiff pup. My 2 year old almost shredded him to pieces, and I ended up having to give the pup away. I tried getting my eldest fixed, and that didn't even help. It's pure instinct of the mastiff breed to obtain dominance. There is no helping the matter.

Would an English mastiff and German shepherd get along?
It depends on a few things:
1. You introduce them correctly (no pushing, no making the other jealous, etc.)
2. The temperament and past life experiences of each dog.
3. The age and gender of each dog. Same sex pairings are more likely to result in quarrelling than having one of each sex. Remember to spay and neuter to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
4. They are stopped from becoming over dominant over the other.
Only if it is well equipped with opposable thumbs, a high powered rifle and plenty of bear-repellent. While a bear is a clever animal, a mastiff's ability to use firearms is keen for their survival instinct in the wild.
I don't understand what your talking about ^. Well todays mastiff could kill a black bear. However they would have absolutely no chance against a kodiak, unlike ancient mastiffs from rome.
First of all Mastiffs were never pitted against lions or any other large carnivore in Rome or anywhere else alone..They may have been large dogs, but they fought in packs of 3 or more..And why would you even want to test his ability to kill a bear?
Unless he is trying to protect.

Are Mastiffs and Pugs the same?
No. If you have seen the movies Men In Black and Men In Black 2, the little dog named Frank is a pug. A mastiff is about 5 maybe 6 or 7 times bigger than a puny pug. A mastiff can eat a pug for an appetizer.
It depends on their age, are they still intact (not neutered), their temperaments, etc.
I would not bring in 2 mature male Mastiffs together with no preparation. If you wish to keep 2 male mastiffs then I recommend you neuter them both first, introduce them slowly & properly. Keep them at first in separate areas where they can see each other. It is better to keep one of each sex if you wish to have 2 dogs. Keeping 2 males together is asking for trouble. It has been done but with people who know what they are doing. This is a large breed and once you have that first fight, they will hate each other forever.

8 mo English mastiff how do you know when she in heat and how often will she go into heat?
8 months old is old enough to start cycling, so you should keep your eye on her. Signs of heat include squatting, spotting blood, excessive attention-seeking behavior, loss of leash training when around intact males and nesting behaviors.
She will go into heat approximately every 60 days through the spring and summer; heat cycles may stop over winter or continue depending upon her genetic make-up.
As a veterinarian, unless you know you are going to be breeding her, I strongly recommend having her spayed as soon as possible. In addition to preventing unwanted and unexpected puppies, early spaying also prevents breast cancer, uterine cancer and ovarian cancer. It also tends to 'mellow out' most dogs, making them less hyper.
