Can fleas penetrate a tempur pedic mattress?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Bed bugs can live on/in anything, but bed bugs cannot get into the mattree with outer covering of the Tempurpedic. An exterminator will need to treat the mattress because eggs and nymphs do tend to reside on the outer fabric, and it is possible that bed bugs are hiding in the seams of the zipper. Most likely the bed bugs are living in the box spring, and not the mattress itself.

Can chiggers live in your mattress?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

From what I understand they do not stay on clothes, they will stay on your body and bite you several times. Sometimes days apart. I took a shower and washed by scrubbing down my skin with a cloth. Then I washed my sheets and clothes just incase. I haven't gotten another bite since. Maybe I got the buggers.

I have two very itchy red bites on my waste line with a smaller darker red dot in the middle of each. I think they are Chigger bites.

I hope this answers your question.

Memory foam material helps keep dust mites away because of the material it is made from. Dust mites feed off of organic fibres such as cotton, not polyurethane foam.

How do you clean up cat pee from a mattress?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Pour white vinegar in your washer & wash the cover as extra heavy.

For the mattress, rub a generous amount of baking soda and salt (as salt is an abrasive) roughly into the dampened area. Add a small amount of vinegar ***REMEMBER THIS WILL FOAM A LOT*** and scrub more. This will take a lot of elbow grease. Rinse. Always make sure the mattress is completely dry before you put the sheets back on.

Alternatively, use an upholstery cleaner on the mattress after the vinegar mix. To avoid this in the future, invest in a non-permeable cover for your mattress so that any future incidents will be easier to take care of. Unfortunately, animals will often repeat the act.

How to Clean a Latex Mattress?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Cleaning a mattress may seem like an impossible task. You can’t exactly throw it in the washer like everything else. Even the most stained and dirty mattresses can be cleaned. It’s a good idea to make cleaning your bed a monthly chore whether it really needs it or not in order to keep it smelling fresh.

1. Vacuum your mattress with the upholstery cleaning attachment on your vacuum. This will help to get rid of dust and dust mites that build up on the surface of the bed over time. You may not realize they are there. However, if your allergies have been acting up, the dust mites and dust could be part of the cause.

2. Use either detergent mixed with water or upholstery shampoo on the surface of the mattress. After all areas have been covered, use a sponge dipped in warm water to get rid of the suds. If stains are very severe, you can buy an enzyme cleaner. Enzyme cleaners get down inside the stain and break up the structure of it for easier and more effective cleaning. You can find these at almost all home improvements stores.

3. Allow mattress to air dry. If you are in a hurry, you can plug a fan into the wall next to the bed to dry it faster.

4. Use vinegar to remove urine stains and hydrogen peroxide to remove blood stains. All other types of stains should come up easily with an extra dose of the upholstery cleaner or detergent mix.

5. Hydrogen peroxide will also work well to combat cigarette odor. If someone in your family smokes, you will need to wash your mattress down more frequently in order to keep the smell to a minimum.

It’s a good idea to flip your mattress over at least once every 6 months to help combat dust mite buildup. It’s also wise to invest in washable mattress covers to help prevent future stains and soiled areas.

How do you stop a wooden bed frame from squeaking?

User Avatar

Asked by Hoem

a squeaky matress has metal springs and are probably squeeking because they are rusty or some are rubbing against eachother. In order to stop it from squeeking you would have to tear it apart and oil them which isn't worth because it will make a big mess and the you have to sew the matress back together. Even if you did manage to do this the same problem would come back. If it bothers you alot then you should go out and buy a new matress (easier said than done). I wouldn't recommend ripping apart any mattresses to oil the springs, either. Just get some new box springs.

What is the value of a Thomasville Collectors Cherry Queen Sleigh Bed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I guess the answer would depend on the condition. I purchased the exact bed five years ago for $2250. Now similar styles sell for $2400-2600. As for used but in good condition I have priced a King for $800 and a Queen with two Nightstands for $1000, which is easily a great value.

How do you convert a ragazzi crib to a toddler bed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I just did it 10 minutes ago. I couldn't find any instructions from the manufacturer literature or on the Ragazzi website, so I was guessing.

First I unbolted the four arms that hold the metal bed support up and pushed it down as flat as I could. I had to do it a couple of times and go kind of slow, to get the loose arms tucked away as best I could. They still stick up a little above the rest of the frame.

After much wrestling with the wooden front panel (gate) of the crib (the one I need to remove), here is what I did.

1. Find the wooden piece that crosses the bed just behind the gate. This is an approximately 1.5-inch by 3/4-inch piece. On ours, it's just above and in front of the drawer under the crib.

2. Find the metal screw at one end of this cross piece. You will see that it is on the outside of the bed, on the short end of the bed, in line with the cross piece.

3. Unscrew it. Note that this screw actually threads into a threaded piece inserted into the cross piece in a little hole on the back side of the cross piece, about 3/4 inch from the end. If this little silver metal piece falls out, you will need to find it and put it back in the hole with the threads facing the screw hole. The piece is the size of a pea.

4. Anyway, use an Allen wrench to remove the screw, without losing that little inserted thingy.

5. I'm not saying this is textbook, but I then forced the end of the crib away from the rest of the crib while moving the gate up and down and pulling gently toward me (to pull the gate from its track). You have to move the end of the crib to create about a 1/2-inch gap before the gate will pop free.

6. The gate has two pins on each side, so when you get it freed on the site that you removed the screw on, the other side will come off without removing the second screw on that side.

7. I then got the drawer back on its tracks properly (it jumped the tracks a bit in the process), pushed everything back together the way it was, and screwed the screw back in. (if the screw wont thread, either you lost the aforementioned little silver piece, or that little silver piece is turned in the hold the wrong way)

8. With the gate removed, the crib (now toddler bed I guess) has four little tabs where the gate was once attached. Two I had to unscrew, and the other two I grabbed with a pliers and pulled out.

It wasn't elegant, but I certainly have an intact toddler bed now. (Unlike you ;)

Good luck!

What is a futon mattress made of?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

One of the best materials for a futon cover is genuine leather. While it is a rather expensive type of material, the quality and durability makes it worth the price. Leather is very sturdy, and can last for many years as long as it is carefully and properly treated.

How big is a small double bed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

"A small double bed (sometimes called a ""Full"" bed) has standard dimensions of 75 inches in length and 54 inches in width. These beds are generally viewed as being large enough to accommodate two smallish adults or one larger adult (and two children would have plenty of space). Two large adults should probably consider moving up to a queen-sized mattress."
