Typically, the hood release handle is located on the driver's side, underneath the dashboard, near the left side of the steering column. It often features a small icon of a car with an open hood. You may need to pull it towards you to release the hood latch.

The Battery for the Mercedes G500 is in the rear footwell. Think the hump on the floor where the passengers sit. You have to remove the cup holder (held on by 2 screws) pull up the mat on the floor (in the center) and viola -- battery. Battery has a vent hose on side.

GL450 the battery is located under the front passenger seat. There are charging terminals under the hood on the right side. Look in the owners' manual under "jump-starting".
