Although minecraft is very popular, I'm pretty sure it isn't. Even if just the pc edition hit 10 million sales. Games like calll of duty are normally the most popular video games, but minecraft is height up there on my list, higher than COD.

If you mean you cant kill people than its because you have not enabled PVP you can do this by going into your minecraft sever folders and find the notpad file called "sever" and find PVP and change it to:
PVP=true

Unfortunately you cannot play two player on the samecomputer.
It's easy to do if your both in the same house (on their own computers), all you have to do is in the options for single player just select "Open To Lan" and anyone in the house can then join in on your map. They just have to go to the "Multiplayer" menu to find it.
You have to have two separate computers and one of them has to run a server if they are not in the same house.
If your buddy across town want's to play then one of you (the one with the faster internet or bigger computer) has to download the server. Just go to the "Minecraft WiKi" online and it will tell you everytihing you need to do. It's a lot easier then it used to be.

Probably not, as most apps expect the file to be where it's normally supposed to be, on the drive with the home folder with the rest of the game parts and may not "see" the alias or short cut because it doesn't recognize the external drive. All you can do is try, the worst that can happen is the mod won't work.
