Lighting a beacon is pretty easy. You may or may not have thought that when you place a Diamond, Iron Ingot, Gold Ingot, or Emerald, it would light a beacon, but in fact you need you make a 3x3 square made out of Diamond, Iron, Gold, or Emerald Blocks, and place the beacon in the middle, wait maybe 1 or 2 seconds, and it will shine a huge line of light about 300 blocks high

There are no hostile mobs in Peaceful difficulty mode on Minecraft. Mobs such as creepers, skeletons, zombies, spiders and all other manner of hostile mobs do not spawn while Peaceful mode is active, though you will see (in dark places or at night) mobs attempting to spawn and immediately disappearing a millisecond after appearing. Mobs cannot attack you regardless unless another difficulty is triggered.

If you want to report someone on a server for breaking the server rules, report them to one of the server admins.

Most large servers also have a website or chat group.

If you want to report someone directly to Mojang, do so via the Mojang Support Centre- http://help.mojang.com/.

Mojang only bother with serious things like hacking or stealing passwords. Things like griefing are a server concern, not a Mojang concern.
