The easiest way to delete a Minecraft mod is to force update. When you start Minecraft, where you hit log in below that there is an options button. Click on that and hit Force Update, and it should change to will force! You will have to re-install any mods you would like again as that deletes all mods. If you don't want to do that you can go through your minecraft.jar and delete the mod file by file.

Herobrine didn't actually die. He got removed, because he was actually a mob. But the mob couldn't actually be in game unless you hack the game. The mob is called a human. They just wander and jump around , but they are hostile.
