In addition, several out-branches, such as Tekkit, Yogbox, etc., make it truly unique. If the price concerns you a bit, don't worry. I myself am a gamer and I worried anout the worth of the game, but in the end, I was glad I made the purchase.

To smelt you must have charcoal right click the furnace put it at the bottom and put the other item on the top of the 2 blocks.

How do you make a Nether Portal in Minecraft?
You need the following:
- Lava
- Water
- A diamond pick axe
- Flint and steel
- Either find some naturally occurring obsidian, or pour water onto a lava pool with a bucket to create obsidian, then mine it with a diamond pickax. You need 10 blocks of obsidian to make the portal.
- Create a square frame 4 blocks wide by 5 blocks tall using the obsidian. The corners do not need to be obsidian for it to work.
- Set the inside of the frame on fire, preferably using a flint and steel.
If the inside of the frame turns purple, then you have a Nether portal! Stand in the purple portal block for several seconds and you will be transported to the Nether (unless it's disabled on a multiplayer server). Portals in the Nether will return you to the Overworld.

Because you can use stone pressure plates to power the dispenser, it is a very simple matter to line the plate up with the front of the dispenser, thus creating an 'Indiana Jones' style trap. This is an incredibly simple trap to make and I can't tell you how funny it is to be going about your business elsewhere on your Minecraft property and hearing the dispenser being set off by half-witted mobs who apparently don't mind being riddled with arrows.
The noise that the trap makes is also a potential warning system, letting you know that something (or someone, if this is implemented in SMP) is getting a little too close for comfort.
