Click the multiplayer button, then click add server, type in the server address and what you want to name the server, then click ok, and click on the server that pops up.

You cannot find Israphel's castle in a minecraft world unless you build it or download a MCedit schematic or the yogscast map where the castle is. Unless you do one of those things there is no way you will find that castle in your worlds.

The Classic version of Minecraft is free.

One mod installer there is, and the most famous one by the way, is MCpatcher. But it only allows you to install things like TMI and modloader, but it also makes your minecraft compatible with HD textures. Another famous one is nitrous, and this one also works to put GLSL shaders in your minecraft (super HD graphics card required, though). To run it, simply install it in your computer, and open it. It will tell you to browse for your minecraft jar file (WARNING: this must be a jar file, and not any other kind of file). When you locate your jar, (in your bin folder where it always is...) you have to open it with the installer, (some installers, like the zombe mod installer, locate the jar on their own, so try to look for one that does that for the easiest installing) and then select the mods you would like to install. Some installers require that you select mods that you have already downloaded to your computer, and others bring their own mods (again, like the zombe mod one). When they are done installing, sit back and enjoy playing minecraft with your brand new mods!

Note that some big mods can't be installed through installers, and you have to install them by hand, there are many youtube tutorials on how to do this, though, so you'll be fine.

First off, what are you even doing with a Windows 2000 operating system? You should get Windows 7. Second, theoretically, it COULD work, but if you're using an original Windows 2000 computer, the graphics card isn't powerful enough. My advice: upgrade. Or wait 2 months for Windows 8.

The world's terrain is generated using a random number, this number is called the 'seed'. Minecraft allows you to enter your own string of text and numbers to use as the seed, like, you could enter your name and see what the terrain looks like. If your seed makes you spawn near something particularly interesting, you can tell other people what you used, and they'll be able to see that specific terrain too.
