Akbar (1556-1605) was coronated in Kalanur on Feb 14, 1556, at the age of thirteen, when his father Humayun had died of an accident. Bairam Khan became his Regent. In 1560, he took complete control of the empire after dismissing Bairam Khan.

The Mughal empire used many weapons. Their main infantry were equipped with a matchlock musket and a dagger or khatar (thrusting dagger). Most Mughal warriors had a Talwar, a Persian piji0n0i[p ladopted many weapons from the Hindu inhabitants, including the khatar and bhuj axe. Later on, they also commisionned European weapons made in an Indian style, though these were mostly for display.

Zahir ud-din Muhammad Babur has founded the Mughal dinasty.

The Mughal Empire had an absolute monarchy. The Emperor was the supreme head of the State.

Bahadur Shah II, also known as Bahadur Shah Zafar (1837-1857) was the last Mughal Emperor of India.

Akbar was a great mughal emperor and a tolerant ruler. His tolerance also kept the mughal empire united. He was a great warrier and won many battles. Though he was illiterate he managed his empire very well.

Babur and Akbar brought the Mughal rule to most of India. They used artillery and swift cavalry tactics vs. their enemies the capture Delhi.

Ruqaiya Sultan Begum was the first wife of Akbar. She was the daughter of Hindal Mirza, the youngest son of Emperor Babur.

Babur was the first Mughal Emperor of India. Babur started the Mughal empire in 1526.

Akbar's tutor was Bairam Khan who was the wise general of Nasiruddin Humanyu.

In September 1605, Akbar fell ill due to dysentery or some kind of diarrhea. His physician Hakim Ali failed to diagnose the trouble correctly and for eight days he refrained from prescribing any medicines. Akbar's condition grew worse due to the agitation produced by the quarrel between the supporters of his son Salim and grandson Khusrau. Hakim Ali began treating Akbar on the ninth day of his illness and continued to do so for ten days, but which produced no effect. On his death bed Akbar nominated Salim (later Jahangir) as his successor. He died on Oct 15, 1605.

Mariam-uz-Zamani, was also called Heer Kunwari, Jodha Bai, Hira Kunwari or Harka Bai, was an empress and the wife of Emperor Akbar. She lived from 1542 to 1623.

Asbar was an estimated 5 ft. 7 inches in height. He was the Mughal Emperor. He reigned from 1556 until he died on October 27, 1605.

Mumtaz Mahal (also known as Aliya Begum, Arjumand Banu Begum, Taj Bibi, Mumtaz-ul Zamani) was the second and favorite wife of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for whom he created the most beautiful tomb, the Taj Mahal. She was the niece of Mughal Empress Nur Jahan (wife of Jahangir).

In the medieval period before the Mughals esp. Akbar, state or provinces were not demarcated in well-defined way. It was the Akbar under whose reign the Empire was divided into 12 provinces or probably Central provinces, which were part of Mughal India or under the one central power. These provinces were Agra, Awadh, Bengal, Bihar, Allahabad, Malwa, Gujarat, Ajmer Kabul, Multan, Lahore and Delhi.

Akbar strengthened the Muslim empire by expanding it and conquering many other cities. He took control of most India and killed various other leaders. He was also very tolerant towards other religions and married a Hindu princess so that the Rajputs (very brave soldiers) would not threaten him.
