Multiple births happen when two or more fetuses are developed during a pregnancy. Two fetuses, or twins, are common; but eight fetuses, or octuplets, are rare. Premature birth is most likely to happen to babies born from a multiple-birth.

Can you have twins if you are not a twin?

yes, absolutely! Non-identical twins have a tendancy to be hereditary on your mother's side of the family. So for a female if your mother or mother's mother had non-identical twins there is a highler likelihood you might. Still, many twins don't have twins, and many people who aren't a twin do have twin. The increase in IVF has increase the number of multiple births in recent decades.

Yes, but only in cases in which they're fraternal, as identical twins form from a single egg/sperm combination and thus cannot have different fathers. In rare instances, when two or more of a woman's eggs are fertilized by different men within the same ovulation period it's called heteropaternal superfecundation.

What are the chances of having twins if your husband is a twin and twins run on your side of the family?

Fraternal (non-identical) multiples caused by the mother releasing (or being implanted with) two or more eggs… the father has no influence in the connection fraternal multiples! Identical multiples are just a miracle of nature when the egg splits two or more times, it is not generally considered a genetic trait. You chance would only increase if you were one of a naturally conceived triplet (with at least one fraternal).

Are twins more likely to have twins for their own child?

I have an identical twin. For me it is no more likely that I will have twins than anyone else because identical twins are just flukes. If you are a non- identical twin and that is because your mother had two eggs, then you may have this too, and it is more likely you will have twins.

How many ova's would triplets have?

It depends. With identical triplets there was only one ovum. If the set has two identical, one fraternal then there were two ova, and if all three are fraternal then there were three eggs in total.

Personally I'm one of a set of two-egg triplets. I am the fraternal one of the set, although I still look very much like my sisters.

What are your chances of having twins the 3 pregnancy if you had twins the first pregnancy and single birth the second?

I am sure there is am mathematical equation out there somewhere on percentages but that I don't know. I know twins run in our family. My mom had twins her 2nd pregnancy. Her 1st was me and I was a loner, then my twin sisters, then 2more single births. My little brother and my baby sister. So for my mom, 4 pregnancies, only 1 twin. Now before you go getting all excited (unless up want more twins), her sister got pregnant 3 times & had twins all 3 times! My me mom says my aunt has always been an over achiever & a show off though LOL!

How do twins act?

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are very different. In fact I am a twin, and my two younger sisters who are 2 years younger are also twins, so, haha, I know what I'm talking about. There are two different types though, the types that are always together, and...well.....then the types that cant stand to be around the other. and me and my sister aren't the closest, but my two younger sisters always like to be together, etc. But twins are not the same, I mean, i have been asked so many WIERD questions like "Do you think the same thoughts?", "Do you have both have 1 soul?", etc. But really, even my two younger twin sisters, although they are good friends, they are OPPOSITES in alot of ways. And me and my sister are too. Twins are just normal people who happen to look the same.

Why do some twins look different?

Fraternal twins occur when two fertilized eggs are implanted in the uterine wall at the same time. When two eggs are independently fertilized by two different sperm cells, DZ twins result. The two eggs, or ova, form two zygotes, hence the terms zygotic and biovular.

Identical twins occur when an egg splits into two; which makes them identical. Identical twins are not hereditary like fraternal twins can be. It is complete coincidence.
