NASA actually has several Mission Control Centers, though the main MCC, and the one most people are familiar with, is the Manned Flight Center (MCC-H) at Johnson Space Center in Houston, which directs all Manned Flight activities (e.g., Shuttle, International Space Station, etc.) Up until the mission clock starts advancing, Kennedy Space Center Launch Control is in charge of the mission; after the countdown ends and the mission begins, control switches to MCC at JSC.

Since MCC-H is in a hurricane sensitive zone, there are backup MCC facilities at Kennedy Space Center at MCC in Moscow for ISS operations.

There are actually several Flight Control rooms in the MCC building - each is manned by a dozen up to 20 controllers.

The Joystick was invented by NASA engineers so that the astronauts that piloted the lunar module could fly it to the moon safely. The joystick was also used on the lunar rover and was placed in the middle of the vehicle so that both astronauts could drive the rover what side of the vehicle they were in.

Satellites equipped with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors can penetrate clouds and smoke by emitting their own microwave signals that can pass through these obstacles and reflect off of the Earth's surface. By analyzing the return signal, satellites can create images of the ground beneath the clouds or smoke. Additionally, satellites with thermal infrared sensors can detect temperature differences caused by fires or heat sources even through clouds or smoke.

NASA is canceling the Space Shuttle program for several reasons.

Firstly, there have been 2 space shuttle disasters, leaving 14 astronauts dead. Both accidents were caused by human error and severe problems with NASA management over the space shuttle program.

Secondly, the space shuttle is not a very safe vehicle. There have been many close calls on past shuttle missions that could easily have led to catastrophes. The space shuttle is still largely an experimental vehicle with new problems and safety issues being discovered.

Thirdly, there is no viable method for space shuttle crew members to escape in the event of an accident. Though Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo all had emergency escape systems, the space shuttle's crew escape system can only be used in a very small percent of circumstances, but in most emergencies the crew would have no chance of survival.

Lastly, the shuttle program is expensive. It costs an average of $450 million dollars and many months of training to prepare each shuttle launch.

The first space shuttle to explode during liftoff was the space shuttle Challengerin 1986. The second shuttle disaster occured on the 1st of Febuary 2003 to space shuttle Columbia. In boh disasters, 7 astronauts lost their lives.

NASA created 2 space shuttles that would never fly in space. The first, Pathfinder. The purpoose of Pathfinder was to find the shortest and safest route from the location that it was built to the nearest airport so it can be delivered to the Kenedy Space Center. The second Shuttle that will never make a space trip is Enterprise. Enterprise was used for aerodynamic test and landing tests. Five other shuttles have been made; Columbia, Challenger; Atlantis; Discovery and Endeavour. Columbia and Challenger exploded during missions.

The primary concern of any moon landing is the high velocity involved that arises from the effects of gravity. In order to go to any moon, a spacecraft must first leave the gravity well of the Earth.

The space shuttle is different from all other space crafts ever built because it is the only vehicle that NASA has to fly astronauts to orbit and back that can be used again. The space shuttle is almost 100 percent reusable. the only part that needs replacing is the large external tank. After every flight a new one needs to be made.

The Mariner program, run by NASA, consisted of a series of robotic space probes sent to explore Mars, Venus, and Mercury from the 1960s to the 1970s. The overall cost of the Mariner program was around $554 million in 1971, which is approximately $3.7 billion in today's dollars when adjusted for inflation.

The rocket that came before the Mercury rocket was the Redstone rocket. The Redstone rocket was used for suborbital flights before the Mercury program began.

After that, they revised all the materials and did upgrate it.Then they stablished NASA to admit , train and apply the knowledge of sientists in order to observe the orbit.
