How do we know how many people died in concentration camps?

The numbers are estimates based on statements made by (1) those who ran the camps and (2) other evidence, where available. The number of Jews killed was determined as about six million by the Nuremberg Tribunal in 1946. Actually, the Germans kept very good records. They wanted to document their success in 'improving' the human race to the world. During the fall of the Third Reich, many of the records were destroyed to prevent them from serving as evidence in the trials. Nazis did not keep correct records and Jews had numbers tattooed on them. Some of the names were hard to pronounce or write so often the German Officer would put down a short form. One of my girlfriend's father was a reporter (Jewish) and landed up in the concentration camp. His last name was King-Whittick and it's obvious his name would have been shortened to "King." They never did find his body and it is impossible to determine exactly how many Jews perished. It was not only the Jews, but Gypsies and any other person (even German) who went against Hitler and the Third Reich.

How did the Jews die in Belzec?

Belzec only operated for less than a year and more than 500,000 died there. --- As a result of the Hoefle (wirelees) telgramme (intercepted by the Allies) the exact number of Jews reported killed at Belzec is known. The SS's own figure is 434,508 Jews. In addition, an unknown number of Roma (gypsies) were also killed. The telegramme was sent after the camp had ceased to operate, so the figure can be regarded as defintive. (Although the telegramme was accurately decrypted, no one was able to work out at the time what it was about).

What did the Nazi's REALLY feed the Jews in concentration camps?

What did they eat in Concentration CampsWhile in Concentration Camps, good food was very hard to get. During breakfast they were given 10 ounces of stale bread with a small piece of Salami. Or 1 ounce of Margarine and brown tasteless coffee with NO sugar. At noon soup was given with old Carrots and Rutabagas. Dinner was Stale bread with Margarine and Jam. Sometime they would NOT get Food.... If They even got any they got a little. which this is a little.

Varied from concentration camp to concentration camp, but they were not feed much, some not at all. Not much to survive, obviously, as they were basically made to work themselves to death. I have also read, from where I cannot remember, that their food was often contaminated (purposely) with a substance that would make them sick and give them diarrhea (which would flush everything out of their bodies, dehydrate them, and causing malnutrition, and eventually death). Not to mention the poor sanitary conditions spelled disease. It's very hard to read these types of things, but it is part of history. People can be very cruel.I read that they have to save their food until the next day.
