It took me a while, but I finally found it in the book _Board Games_ by Desi Scarpone (a book for board game collectors). It is called "Hide 'n' Thief" and was made by Whitman in 1965.

She lists it as going for $30-$40 dollars at year 2002 prices, but ... I couldn't find even one copy anywhere on the internet for sale. There is a guy selling replacement pieces, but not the whole game. :)

So, good to know what it is called, but... acquiring a copy is still a challenge.

You can't really bank shot, it's quite rare, NBA Elite 11 has the control to bank shot but it's very bad game and the controls are very confusing.

It depends at the start, what setting you put it on. There is 29, 82 and i think 54 games per season.
