Concealed wiring is wiring that can not be seen. A good example of this is house wiring that is located behind the wall board. The word concealed gets mentioned in the electrical code. It states, that any concealed wiring cannot be covered until the electrical inspector or one of his representatives checks to make sure that the installation is safe to cover.

The speed of a drill is defined as how many RPM's of the chuck.

The TORQUE of a drill is defined as how many "ft/lbs" the chuck can transfer to a drill bit.

Imagine the drill has a pulley connected to the chuck and the pulley has a radius of 1 ft. Connect a string to the pulley and see how much weight the drill can lift.

If the drill could lift 25 pounds using that 1 ft radius pulley, it is developing 25 ft/lbs of torque.

The weight may be lifted very slowly or very rapidly, depending on the RPM's of the chuck, but the torque will be determined by how much weight the drill would lift.

Both are important characteristics of a drill. If the motor is weak, the manufacturer may use gearing to provide more torque, but if the chuck is turning slowly, you won't get much work done.

If the motor is larger, the manufacturer may not need to use gearing to give you the same torque.

Watts = current x volts for a resistive load. You need to know a voltage to calculate amps. If it is a 120 VAC residential voltage it would be a whopping 266,000/120 = A or 2,216.7 Amps. If it is 240 VAC then half that. To put that in perspective the service to a typical residence might be between 100 and 200 Amps.

it depends on the frequency of the current in question. the higher the frequency, the less depth in the cross-section the current flows. this is termed skin depth.

Depending on the application and other factors, it will TYPICALLY be best to use a transformer.

Commercial lighting. In a facility where 3 phase 480 volts is needed for machinery, 277 is also readily available because each leg of 480 to ground is 277 volts. This way numerous supply transformers are not needed in a commercial building.

1200 Amps is a huge breaker. Typical houses might have between 100 and 200 Amp service. Since this would have to be a very unique installation you would have to provide a lot more information before cost could be computed. You also have to indicate who is supplying the breaker which would be a significant cost on its own.

You can wire a dimmer into any circuit. The issue is where you do it for a specific outlet. The dimmer would just have to connect to a single outlet and not all outlets on the same circuit. The issue is getting a dimmer that is compatible with the device you are dimming. Some lighting requires special dimmers.

A GFCI outlet has a TEST and RESET switch. Press reset and see if it fixes problem. If reset won't stay in that means that a ground fault condition is present and may be on another outlet that is fed from the tripped GFCI.

If this isn't the problem check the main breaker feeding the GFCI and ensure it isn't tripped. If none of this works the GFCI itself may be bad.

If you have a Volt Meter you can remove the outlet from the wall receptacle and make sure there is voltage present. You can also see if there is a branch circuit connected. To troubleshoot you can disconnect the branch circuit and then try reset. If you have voltage on input and GFCI won't reset with branch circuits removed, replace the GFCI.

Dehumidifiers will do the job, but proper air conditioning and heating will prevent it happening so much.

According to the 2008 National Electrical Code, the smallest wire that can be run in parallel is a 1/0 AWG (American Wire Gauge). If the wire you are using is smaller than a 1/0 AWG, you will need to increase the size of the wire to handle the amperage (Table 310.16 of the NEC).

Most municipalities and power companies require that meter bases be installed by licensed electricians.
Do not attempt to install the meter base yourself. There are far more realistic ways of saving a few dollars.

No, it is not safe to use a #8 conductor on a 50 amp breaker. A #8 conductor is only rated at 45 amps capacity. By connecting it to a 50 amp breaker, which would trip at 50 amps on an overload, would overload the conductor by an extra 5 amps. This would be a conflict against the electrical code.

A type of current transformer used as a metering device. You clamp the tong around a wire and it will tell you how many amps are flowing though it.

Drop panels are used to thicken the slab around the column in flat slabs to avoid punching shear. Since flat slabs have no stirrups shear is resisted by thickening the slab around the column to increase the concrete in shear.

Beams can also be used, but generally drop panels are preferred to avoid conflicts with the electromechanical works of the structure.
