Yes. The government was forcing these farmers to give them their farmed goods for little to no pay, but because of the oppressing samurai, they were unable to fight back. Eventually they had enough, secretly training themselves in the ways of stealth and secrecy, some even being taught by former spy's. Once taught, they re-purposed their farming tools. Additional, the farmers dressed themselves in black clothing to they would blend in during the night. They would then attack during the night, using their weapons as well as black eggs (hollowed out chicken eggs painted black and filled with anything lethal, like sand or glass) to blind the samurai, because their eyes were the only exposed part of their body. They stole back their farmed goods, thus beginning the age of the samurai.
