Buy it at a salvage yard and it will cost about $10.00. Another few dollars for the gasket/seal, it's cheap. Check the torque specs and don't over tighten. It there are no junk yards in your area, just go on line. You can search across the country and have the part shipped.

How do you replace the front blower motor on 2007 Nissan Quest?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

These instructions are for a 2007 Quest with Nav and Dual Climate Control. It appears from the parts book that this is applicable to all models, but I can't guarantee that. I have pictures of this process from start to finish if needed. This is a little tricky and took me a few hours to figure out, but can be done in a couple hours easily.

1. Remove cover behind Nav system. This is done by using a plastic or other soft tool to pry at the front, closest to the windshield, and working around. It should pop up easily.

2. Remove the tray that holds the GPS antenna unit and small speakers. 4 phillips head screws. Remove the 2 screws holding the GPS unit.

3. Lift up this tray removing the GPS antenna, and unplug the two speakers.

4. Remove the Nav screen and computer by taking out the 4 phillips head screws on the brackets behind the screen. Then pull up and the unit should pop up. Unplug the computer and the Nav screen from the harness.

5. Remove the two black 8mm hex head screws holding the defrost ductwork. Now here's a tricky part: you have to remove this duct which is a real PAIN. pull up hard on the front, closest to the windshield, until it pops past the connection to the windshield defrost outlet. You have to deflect it a lot, but it will come.

6. Now looking down you will see the top of the blower motor and double squirrel cage fan unit. There is a large two-wire harness that you will unplug.

7. Now remove the four silver 5.5mm hex head screws (or 7/32") that secure the top housing of the blower motor unit. It helps to have a 1/4" drive with a Universal Joint to get to the front two screws.

8. Pull hard upwards on this top housing to break the sticky seal and this unit will come out along with the motor. You may have to work it slightly side-to-side to get it to come out of the ductwork. Also, you have to roll it and force it slightly to come out of the hole in the dash left by the Nav removal. It likes to get hung up on the defrost outlet duct opening, but it will come out.

Now you can test the unit or replace it. Putting the motor assembly back in requires a little forcing to get it past the defrost duct opening.

The real bugger of putting this all back together is getting the defrost duct back in place. There is a wire harness jammed in the same area, and the duct will really want to hang up on the silver 5.5mm screws that hold the motor unit in on the rear, away from the windshield. I found that using a long, plastic pry tool will help pop it over these. Also, the duct wants to tuck slightly to the driver's side, not centered in the hole. You'll just have to work at this to really force it in, but eventually it will pop into place. Then adjust it so it lines up with the front defrost outlet duct and you're in business.

Reinstall the Nav system (don't forget to plug everything in). The screen harness runs up through the mount bracket on the driver's side.

Reinstall the tray and GPS antenna.

Snap the dash cover back into place. Viola.

Borrow, rent or buy a good quality OBD2 code scanner. The good ones let you clear the codes. Any codes that WON'T clear are usually caused by a failed component that needs to be replaced.

Changing cabin filter for Nissan maxima 2002?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

How to clean or replace the in-cabin microfilter The in cabin microfilter should be cleaned/replaced once a year or every 15,000 miles. The filter came standard on '02-'03 Maxima's and was an option on '00-'01's. Even if your Max doesn't have an in cabin filter, you can order one from Courtesy Nissan or your local dealer. All 5th gen's come with the cabin filter housing and plumbing. However, the replacement filters are made out of a different material then the original filter and must be replaced when dirty instead of cleaned. # Determine if you Maxima is equipped with the in-cabin filter. Check for this label in your glove box:

# Remove screws around glove box

# Pull glove box toward you. Retaining clips will release. It takes quite a bit of pressure to remove the retaining clips so don't be alarmed.

# This picture shows the plugs disconnected, however, DO NOT DISCONNECT these plugs. Instead, remove the two clips (in the lower left hand side of the picture) that attach the yellow air bag plug to glove box housing with needle nose pliers. This will allow the glove box to fall down far enough to allow access to the filter.

Remove glove box bulb housing by twisting counter clockwise.

# The filter housing is now visible - It is the white rectangle in the center of the picture. Remove the black clip and the bottom of the filter housing circled in red with pliers:

# Slide the filter out of the housing. My filter was pretty nasty looking for a 1yr. old car. A ton of leaves and bugs fell out when I removed it.

# Dip and stir the filter in warm soapy water if it is the original or replace if necessary.

# Rinse filter

# Allow to air dry

# Reinstall filter and reassemble glove box.

How do you know if the fuel pump is bad on a 2002 Nissan Quest?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The fuel pressure and output volumes must be tested to begin with, as should electrical voltage at or near the pump (electric ones). Most preferably at the moment that you seem to be experiencing a problem; easier said than done in some cases.

When trying to diagnose intermittent fuel pump problems, your best and easiest option is to visit your favourite mechanic, again, preferably at a moment when you are experiencing the problem. Trust me, most mechanics will drop what they are doing for a moment to try and get a handle on an intermittent problem now, rather than wait for the problem to occur on a test drive later. The mechanic will probably install a temporary fuel pressure gauge, and possibly a flow meter, that can be read by either you or them while driving, and, more importantly, while a problem is being experienced.

How do you change spark plugs in a Nissan quest 2004?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The good: Only three tool sizes needed

The bad: 7 hours and several band aids

I do like our How_to_replace_spark_plugs_on_2004_Nissan_Questbut not sure what they were thinking when they crammed in the engine with no way to easily change the plugs. I have worked on cars my entire life, rebuilt engines, replaced clutches and think of myself as fairly competent. This job humbled me.

With these instructions, plan on 4 hours.

Big picture. We will remove the intake manifold. It has three silver pieces:

1) the lowest part that feeds directly into the valves. We will leave that there.

2) the middle piece which is the part you see most of. We will completely remove that.

3) the back piece that connects the middle to the throttle. We will loosen that but leave it in place.

All directions (right and left) will be while looking toward the back of the How_to_replace_spark_plugs_on_2004_Nissan_Quest... so the driver would now sit on the right side for example.

First, start on the right (looking toward the back of the car) and remove all the black rubber air intake pipes (large pipes).

Next remove all the misc vacuum items from the intake manifold. Should be three or four. Most taking a 10mm socket.

Now with the vacuum stuff out of the way, take out all the 12mm bolts (three) toward the front of the engine holding down the manifold and the two nuts on either side.

Now disconnect the EGR pipe (right side of the manifold. You need to remove the top two bolts and looses the two nuts at the bottom of the pipe because you need to slide it out of the way later.

Now remove the throttle body by taking out the four hex bolts.

Now way to the back part of the engine compartment to get off two 12mm bolts that hold the rear manifold piece in. Back lower part of the rear manifold and are connected to a bracket.

Now a tricky part. Nissan thought it would be a good How_to_replace_spark_plugs_on_2004_Nissan_Questto put a couple wiring harness on the back of the middle manifold. The easiest way is to slide the plastic connectors off the metal brackets. you can't see them but put s screwdriver into the metal bracket back to disengage the plastic lock and slide the connectors upward and off. The plastic locks face towards the drivers side (your right as you work on it) so bring your screwdriver in from that side.

Now the hard part. There are four bolts connecting the middle manifold to the back. Of course you can't see them and the bottom two are near impossible to get to. For the bottom two, I used a 12mm open ended wrench put a piece of rope around the end and had my son pull while I pushed. It may help to lift the manifold up to get the bottom two, while the top two are easily reached when the manifold is down.

Now you should be able to pull the whole middle manifold out. Be sure to cover up the manifold holes to make sure nothing drops down inside.

Replace the spark plugs and reverse the instructions.

Good Luck.

How to remove the rear light cover of Nissan quest 2005 to replace the bulb?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Remove the two screws and give it a good tug, there are a couple of pins that hold the tail light securely, but a good tug and our light came right off, it took us a long time to find an answer for this question, so we wanted to share My van had calcium deposits (from water) built up inside the 2 plastic detent pins which hold the outside of the lamp. There was nothing to grab onto to pull with enough force to overcome these two detents. For this type of stubborn tail lamp assembly, fish a 1 or 2 inch thin nylon strap behind the tail lamp to gain leverage and pull straight back directly in the middle of the tail lamp assembly. First, remove the 2 lamp assembly screws and the plastic part attached to the bracket, in between the 2 screws (3 same screws total). Fish a nylon strap from the outside middle of the lamp (there's a small gap between the lamp and body panel). Use a wire, with a hook on the end, to reach through the metal bracket on the inboard side and pull the strap through it. Now pull the strap through and hold both ends together around the middle of the lamp assembly. Jerk the outer strap straight back with a strong, but short snapping motion and be ready for the lamp to pop off. Be carefull not to lose your balance and pull the lamp too far and break something. To help make future removal easier, I recommend applying some vaseline or WD-40 to the two plastic pins and to the grommets the pins fit into. Clean off the excess vaseline with a cloth. Leave only a very thin residue of the vaseline. This will help prevent calcium, from water, from building up and binding the pins.

How do you change the 2007 quest micro cabin filter?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It's harder than it should be, which is why they don't explain it in the manual. A good way for the dealer to make extra bucks for a stupid thing that you should be able to do yourself.

You take off the glove box front and some of the passenger cabin dash fascia and then you can get a a long vertical panel at the back of the center column towards the engine firewall.

There are 3 screws/bolts or so you need to get out. 1 is pretty hard to get at and I didn't bother putting it back after I was done. Two should hold it fine. But once you get that cover/door off, you can squish out two thin used filters and then squish in the two new ones, one after the other. Other than getting to the point to get at it, it is not that hard... ..

The AC of a Nissan Quest 94 is working fine but the controls in the back are not What could be the problem?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

probably a bad ground somewhere in the system. Mine did the same thing so I traced out the circuit and ran a new ground. it works great , but now it can be turned on when the main system is off. Not like that is a bad thing, but before the main system had to be on before the back could be. it still shuts off when the key is turned off, and when the switch is set to off.
