Hold it so it will soak up the blood that escapes, but instead of pinching the end of your nose closed, pinch the upper boney part of your nose near the base. This will stop the flow of blood gradually. Breath through your nose and don't blow your nose for at least a day. Hope this help!

It depends For really bad ones, what I do is take some toliet paper, roll it up, then fold it over and stick it into my nose. For lighter ones, what you can do is just pinch right under the bone and hold a tissue under your nose.
