True crime is a window into the worst in human behavior, unraveling a mystery, and deciding for yourself if you believe the evidence. If you learn more and more about human nature and what humans are capable of, then it's a worthy pursuit. True crime is always more interesting than fictional crime; real people do things that no one would believe if written as fiction. Don't forget, that every true crime has victims and people close to the victim who are made to suffer loss and grief. If you're only interested in the gory and the prurient side of the story, then your choice might be suspect. So, it's up to you what you get out of true crime stories (novels are fiction); you be the judge of your interest.

Peter William Sutcliffe (born 2 June 1946 in Bingley, West Riding of Yorkshire) is an English serial killer who was dubbed The Yorkshire Ripper. Sutcliffe was convicted in 1981 of murdering 13 women and attacking several others.

Do you mean the Boston Strangler? If you do, the man convicted of the crime was Albert DeSalvo. But there is still controversy over whether or not he was the real Boston Strangler.

Albert De Salvo is the man arrested for the Boston strangler's murders. It is possible that police might have never connected DeSalvo to the Boston Stranglings and his invoment in these crimes is also highly debated. His arrest was carried in Massachusetts.

There have been several doctors that have murdered. Great Britian's Dr. Shipman claimed over 200 victims. Dr. Micheal Swango of America poisoned dozens of people before he was caught for the last time. Dr. Sam Shepard, American, killed his wife and unborn child. Dr. Jeff McDonald killed his wife, unborn child and two small daughters. And then there was Dr. Kovorkian the uthenasia doctor.

The prison guards. Because he is on death row, he is in a safer environment. He has a lone cell where is spends most of his days and nights.

As far as historians can tell the 19th century serial killer had a total of 4 wives. Clara, Georgianna, Myrta and Emeline, were all his wives at one time or another, sometimes at the same time. He also had many mistresses, Julia Conner, Minnie Williams and her sister Nannie Williams. These also sometimes overlapped with each other and sometimes overlapped with the above mentioned wives.

Kurten, known as the 'Vampire of Dusseldorf', brought a young woman to his house and tried to strangle her. Maria Budlick, a domestic servant on vacation, was let go after Kurten asked her if she would be able to remember where he lived. She lied and said no.

After being released she wrote a letter to the local police and after several weeks she was interviewed. Once she showed them where this strange man that had tried to kill her lived, it was only a matter of time before Kurten was picked up and arrested.

Found guilty of multiple murders and kidnappings, Kurten was executed on July 2, 1931.

A Vancouver, BC area hog farmer named Robert Pickton murdered at least 60 women. After killing them he fed the bodies of his victims to his hogs. The pigs did a fine job of eliminating evidence. When finally arrested, Pickton's hogs had left only small pieces of bones. Pickton's trial was the longest in Canadian history and came to a whopping $100 million to prosecute.

I have yet to find a single serial killer that didn't display at least a couple of the warning signs, those being:bed wetting, cruelty to animals, fire starting, these are the most common.

Most likely, when the killer gets the first or second kill, he would run to the media to let the people the achievements he has accomplished. Then the game begins again. In other words the media send the message like; if you commit some atrocity we will publicize it and make it seem militarily significant. So that's the way they get such attention.
