California death row inmates are kept in solitary cells for 23 hours a day. This does not include time out of their cell for showering and other necessities.

Markku Frnassila was a victim of Finnish serial killer Antti Olavi Tashinen, who used poison as a means of death.

Michael John Anderson, from Savage MN, killed Katherine Ann Olson in October 2007. Philip Markoff killed Julissa Brisman in 2009. The Long Island serial killer is responsible for the deaths of at least 4 prostitutes on Long Island, NY. He has yet to be identified. John Katehis killed George Weber, they had met through Craigslist. Weber was found with over 50 stab wounds.

The time period was the Victorian era which included late 1800's to early 1900's. The bulk of the story was 1886 when Holmes bought the pharmacy from the Holtons, to his execution by hanging on May 7, 1896.

If he was he hid it well. Bundy worked as a cook, which failed to garner much respect from his adopted son Ted.

Charleze Theron was riviting as female serial killer Aileen Wuornos, in the Patty Jenkins movie Monster. Wuornos was executed in 2002 after confessing to the murder of 7 men in Florida.

Susan Atkins died of a brain tumor in September 2009. Patricia Krenwinkle is still incarcerated and has spent her time behind bars to help others. She is very involved with the program where inmates train special service dogs. Leslie Van Houten is still in prison and has used her time to earn a Phd. She had a parole hearing in July 2010 but was denied for the 19th time. Both Van Houten and Atkins married which must be difficult with them in prison. All three are, or in the case of Atkins, were, serving their time at the women's prison in Fontana California.

That leaves only one woman who was present at both crime scenes. Linda Kasabian was ordered by Charles Manson to go with the others because she was the only one that had a valid CA drivers licence. But no amount of brainwashing by Manson could make Kasabian kill. She received immunity for her testomony at the 1970 trial. Kasabian disappeared for many years under a new name and actually has had a normal life.

Family member Lynette 'Skeaky' Fromme did time for many years for trying to assassinate President Ford. She has since been paroled and I think she lives on the east coast.

Scott Peterson was born on October 24, 1972.

Homicide detective works these cases as well as the FBI agents. A police profiler also works in these cases.

He was called the Angel of death. He was from Ohio. Larry Ralston received four life sentences for killing four young Tristate women. One conviction was overturned, but in 1984 he received another life sentence for murder. So far no news agency has brought forward news of his death so we can assume he is alive.

When the police puts togheter a murder board, a number of persons are assigned to form a committee of questioners to set up to help someone prepare for a difficult oral examination. The term murder board was realy for political purpose but now the term more widely.

An example would be that a killer always dresses his victims up in a dress before killing them, or that the killer always targets a certain type of person.

This is new to me. Now that I think about it, there is one of those in history, Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed was a countess from the renowned Báthory family. Although in modern times she has been labeled the most prolific female serial killer in history. She killed to be bathed in his victims blood because it will keep her younger.

The Zodiac killer that terrorized most of California in the 1960s and 1970s stabbed Cecelia Shepard 24 times, cutting the outline of a bloody cross. Starting in 1966, the Zodiac left a trail of bodies all over California. Nobody is really positive on the body count. Sinse there was never an arrest, hence no confession, there is only speculation as to number of victims.

The bestselling book by Robert Graysmith makes for a compelling case against a Vallejo, CA man named Arthur Leigh Allen. Graysmith thought it more than coincedental that all Zodiac letters and murders stopped and started again depending on if Allen was in the mental institution or prison.

There has been recent DNA testing done on an envelope sent with a Zodiac letter. Allen didn't lick the envelope. Conclusion:Allen had an above average IQ and in fact held more than one degree in science. If I were that smart I would have someone lick the envelope for me.

Interesting fact:While Allen was attending school at Sonoma State University and living in Santa Rosa, CA there were 8 unsolved murders that were consistant with Zodiac's MO.

Fritz Haarmann of Hanover, Germany killed young men and boys, and earned the title of "Butcher of Hanover".

I'm having trouble finding the exact number. He lived in a very rural area, that may be why it's hard to locate. He did live in Plainfield, Wisconsin, a farming community. He had lots of privacy to carry out his 'wierd' decorating.

The sad fact is there is no single agency. Serial murder investigation is done department to department. The FBI may be called in to assist, but they aren't the ringleaders of investigation into serial murders and, like everyone else, they don't have all of the answers.
