If you insert it at any time other than the first day, there is a 7 day wait for it to take full effect, so I would just insert it whenever and then wait a week before having unprotected sex.

yes. the placement of your nuvaring should be ok as long as it does not slip out. how else are you supposed to remove it, if you don't feel it? you have to be able to feel it in order to remove it after your 3 wks. most of the times neither partner will be able to feel it during sex.
