Do you have to remove the NuvaRing to take a pregnancy test?
No. NuvaRing does not affect the accuracy of a pregnancy test. That is true whether or not the ring is in place. The pregnancy test looks for a hormone that is not found in NuvaRing.
Is it normal to take the nuva ring out and spot the same day?
Yes, spotting is normal after removing NuvaRing. It may happen the first day.
Does wellcare pay for the NuvaRing?
Insurance coverage for drugs without a generic equivalent varies from one plan to another, even within the same insurance company. See related link for the Wellcare formularies.
If the ring was out for less than three hours, you still have the normal level of protection. If more than three hours, you might consider using emergency contraception, and need to use a back up method for the next seven days. If you think you might be pregnant, check with a pregnancy test. Short bleeding is not unusual with Nuva Ring.
There are no known drug interactions between Nuva Ring and spermicidal foam, gel, film, or suppository.
That is normal for the nuva ring. IF it is too painful, you will have to change methods.
When can you breastfeed after removing NuvaRing?
You can breastfeed with or without NuvaRing in. If you are relying on NuvaRing for pregnancy prevention, taking it out to breastfeed is going to increase your risk for pregnancy. If you're breastfeeding while using NuvaRing, removing it for a few hours does nothing to improve your milk supply, but does make it less effective. Please contact your health care provider, pharmacist, or lactation consultant to discuss NuvaRing and breastfeeding, as it seems there has been some misunderstanding. NuvaRing may decrease milk volume, which could be important with a newborn. It does not affect the quality of the milk.
When you're on hormonal birth control, the amount and color of withdrawal bleeding may be different from your period when you're not on birth control. Brown discharge counts as a period when you're on the pill, patch, or ring.
If your Nuva Ring falls out, you should rinse it in cold or lukewarm water and reinsert it. If it was out for less than three hours, no backup method is needed. If it was out for more than three hours, you should use condoms or abstinence from vaginal sex. If you've lost the ring altogether, then you should insert a new ring, leaving it in for three weeks and taking it out after 21 days, on the same day of the week you put it in. What you should not do is wait until after bleeding stops to start the new ring. Just use it on schedule, according to the calendar, regardless of any bleeding.
Sure. The placebo week is just that -- a placebo, often in the form of pink sugar pills. It has absolutely no effect on the body whatsoever and serves only as a place-counter for the week of a woman's period. You could decide not take the placebo pills at all and you would still be protected. Although pregnancy can theoretically occur at any time during the month, most pregnancies happen during ovulation, which occurs approx. 10 days before the start of a normal menstrual period. When a woman is on birth control, even this is controled to prevent ovulation in any form at any time of the month. However, changing the time you take your real, non-placebo birth control pills may lead to your body misunderstanding its own cues and spontaneously ovulating. I would guess that this is very rare, as you can miss completely up to 2 days of taking the pill without it losing its effectiveness. If you want to change the time that you take your pill to a consistently different time, wait until the start of a new cycle to do it. For more in depth questions or if you think you are pregnant, please contact your doctor.
What happens if you bleed very heavy for 2 days after taking the nuv ring out?
If you're soaking more than a pad or tampon an hour, call your health care provider. If it's less than that, but still heavy (pad/tampon every two hours), and goes on for more than two or three days, call your health care provider. Otherwise, continue to use the next ring on schedule, and call your health care provider at your convenience to see if another birth control option would better control your periods, particularly if you've been on the Nuva Ring for more than three months and are still having heavy bleeding.
What if you can't remove NuvaRing?
The Nuva Ring cannot get "stuck." It can move further up the vagina but will stop at the opening of your uterus.
If you can't reach it, try squatting to bring the end of the vagina closer to the opening and bear down; that maneuver is likely to help you reach it better. All you need to do is hook one finger behind it -- it's too slippery to grab.
If you (or your partner) can't remove it, see your health care provider at your convenience -- there's no need to panic. Getting it out within the week will be soon enough.
If you can't feel it at all, you may have lost it. In that case, consider emergency contraception, use a back up birth control method until you figure out if it's been in as prescribed, and consider a pregnancy test in ten days.
How effective is putting in NuvaRing two weeks after taking the morning after pill?
It is a highly effective method, and can be relied on after it's been in for seven days.
You only have to wait a week when inserting the first ring the first time. Otherwise, as long as it hasn't been more than a week since you had a ring in, there's no need to abstain or use a back up method during the first week.
Your nuva ring fell out in the hot tub you put it back in will it still work?
Answer Why not consult with a pharmacy, they'd be better equipped to answer your question. There must be pharmacy phone numbers in the phone book where you live, give it a try.
Is there any harm if you take the morning after pill than three days later insert a nuva-ring?
No, there's no harm. You could have even started it the same day. Use a back up method of birth control, like condoms or abstinence from vaginal sex, until you've been on the ring for seven days.
Can NuvaRing cause dark brown bleeding?
Yes, withdrawal bleeding can be red, dark brown, or black when you're on hormonal birth control. Any of these counts as a withdrawal bleed.
Can you get pregnant during the first week of putting a new NuvaRing in?
If you used NuvaRing correctly last cycle, you don't need to use a backup method when inserting the new NuvaRing. If it's been more than seven days since you used NuvaRing, you need to use a backup until you've used the ring correctly for seven days.
NuvaRing® (etonogestrel/ethinyl estradiol vaginal ring) is a nonbiodegradable, flexible, transparent, colorless to almost colorless, combination contraceptive vaginal ring containing two active components, a progestin, etonogestrel (13-ethyl-17-hydroxy-11-methylene-18,19-dinor-17α-pregn-4-en-20-yn-3-one) and an estrogen, ethinyl estradiol (19-nor-17α-pregna-1,3,5(10)-trien-20-yne-3, 17-diol).

You stopped using the nuva ring a month ago but your period is not normal why?
You will probably ovulate 3-5 weeks after removing the ring and get your next period 5-7 weeks later. You may have spotting during those first few weeks off the ring. You're still in the middle of this process.
What happens if you insert the nuva ring with a chance of pregnancy already present?
If you're already pregnant, Nuva Ring will not harm or end the pregnancy. Since it doesn't make sense to use NuvaRing if you're pregnant, it makes sense to take a pregnancy test first.
Can using a expired nuva ring stop your period when its first starting?
Maybe, but it could also cause irregular bleeding and spotting. If not having a period on certain day was important to me, I'd plan for that a month in advance, as doing something at the last minute can backfire.
What if NuvaRing is out for four hours?
If the Nuvaring has been out for more than 4 hours, insert one immediately and use another form of contraceptive until ring has been in continuously for 7 days.
