Oats and Oatmeal

Oatmeal is high in protein which breaks down into purines - which causes the gout attack. However, oatmeal is also high in fiber which helps speed your body in processing food. So, in short, these two elements counter each other. I've suffered from gout almost 20 years and I eat oatmeal several times per week and have may be one attack a year. I also take a natural supplement and avoid the other high purine foods.

It depends on the person really. If you take ina lot of oats yes this can really cause constipation. oat absorb liquid such as water. Water is very important in a healthy bowel movement because stools absorb water and make it much easier to pass. although oats are a very good complex carbohydrate, try experimenting by removing oats from your diet and slowly add them back in to see if this maybe the problem and see how much your digestive system can handle. hope this helps

yes u can feed chickens oats, scraps from dinna (including meat, BUT NOT CHICKEN) wheat, grain, bread anything humans eat chickens can!! I read in a poultry raising book that feeding chickens oats helps them get through hot weather. Feeding chickens too much dairy, especially probiotic yogurt etc, gives them the runs.

YES IF,

A) You use WHITE sugar (normal ones u find everywhere) , if you use sugar like SAME, EQUAL ... because their sugar contains "ASPARTAME" and trust me ... you will want to avoid that chemical ingredient. ALWAYS AVOID SUGAR THAT CONTAINS ASPARTAME. Always read on the box in the ingredients section. Aspartame slows your metabolism.

B) You prepare your oatmeal with normal milk. It doesnt matter if its diet or regular milk... the thing is, Milk has lactose... and that thing will increase body fat. You will want to avoid that.

NO IF,

A) You use brown sugar, or you use Splenda or Honey. Splenda is different, it doesnt contain Aspartame, it contains Sucralose and it doesnt have the bad effects of Asparatme. Always remember to avoid Aspartame.

B) You prepare your oatmeal with Lactaid Milk. This milk is free of lactose (Every normal milk has lactose). It is expensive, but, it will not cause you to gain weight.

So there you have it, if you want to gain weight, use the "YES IF" section, if you want to lose weight, use the "NO IF" section.

Oatmeal should be fine. Just make sure to use water instead of milk.

We would have to know what you are converting. Cups is a measure of volume. Pounds is a measure of weight and mass. You can not directly convert the two. It could be one to a 100 if it is lead vs. feathers.
