Why it is not recommended to store olive oil in large containers?

I am not aware of any recommendation to not store olive oil in large containers. Olive oil processors store the oil in huge vats, but the oil would be protected from light and heat.

Perhaps at home, to delay rancidity, one should store the oil in the refrigerator and have only a small container available at room temperature for use as needed. Light and heat will affect the flavor of the oil.

What does extra virgin olive oil do for you?

Traditionally cured olives, such as those found at most olive bars, offer a host of health benefits. For starters, they're rich in iron, vitamin E and copper, and are an excellent source of fiber. But what about all the fat?

It's true that olives do have some fat, but it's the incredibly healthy monounsaturated variety. Monounsaturated fats have been found to reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and increase HDL (good) cholesterol.

However, olives contain a triple whammy for your health that works in synergy to provide extreme benefits. Along with monounsaturated fats, olives are rich in vitamin E, a fat-soluble antioxidant that neutralizes damaging free radicals, along with polyphenols and flavonoids, which have anti-inflammatory properties.

Does rubbing alcohol kill head lice effectively or is olive oil better?

Neither will kill lice. You need to go to the store and buy the shampoo that is made for lice. Follow the directions. You also need to strip your bed and wash the sheets, clean combs and brushes, disinfect hats and other clothing. The lice can reinfect you if you don't do this.

Can canola oil be substituted for olive oil when making pasta?

You don't really need oil to make pasta, you just need boiling water, with maybe some salt added if you prefer it that way. If you need oil for a sauce, you theoretically use canola in place of olive oil, but taste wise and health wise you wouldn't want to. A good quality extra virgin olive oil tastes way better than any canola ever could, and since canola has to be heated to be extracted, it already has formed carcinogens before you even bring it home from the store, whereas a cold pressed extra virgin olive oil hasn't been heated higher than usually 96 degrees and therefore it has little or no carcinogens until you start heating it, therefore is you are careful you have a longer time before it becomes dangerous for health. Also, oils should always be purchased in a glass bottle. Plastic bottles are not only bad for health, but also have a very negative effect on the pure taste of the oil.

Is olive oil or grape seed oil ok to give a dog they love it and every night want a teaspoon of the stuff?

Products containing grapeseed oil or extract usually contain small amounts, and probably wouldn't hurt a dog if it's an ingredient in a product, but given the fact dogs shouldn't be given either grapes or raisins (they're toxic to dogs), this is not an oil I'd choose to use as a supplement.

Olive oil on the other hand contains omega 3 fatty acids, which can improve the quality of the skin. It can be drizzled over a dog's food as a supplement if the dog has dry skin (use approximately a ½ tablespoon up to two times per day). It can also be applied externally to dry skin patches, and it won't hurt the dog if it's licked off. Don't give more than 1/2 tbsp of olive oil at once, or the dog can develop diarrhea.

Can you get a tan with olive oil and coffee grounds?

Olive oil is a great supplement for tanning.. this will help draw in sun rays needed for a healthy glow. However coffee grounds would most likely block the sun from your skin which would leave u blotchy, so u might not want to do that. Just stick to the olive oil and heres how..

Apply an even layer of olive oil onto your body, like sunscreen, and take a soak in the sun. You can apply the olive oil with a paper towel, washrag, or cotton balls. Each of these will guarantee an all-over-coverage. MAKE SURE THE OLIVE OIL IS APPLIED TO DRY SKIN, AND APPLIED WITH A NON WET RAG. happy tanning!
