Is trazodone hydrochloride and opiate?

I don't know how it would. Trazodone mainly an anti-depressentt. It's not a narcotic. They can be used for anxiety and can have a calming, slightly tranquilizing effect. So where they may have the same calming effect, they're completely different drugs.

What can ease pain from withdrawal?

Depending on the drug that is causing withdrawal symptoms, many medications and therapies can be used.

FOR HEROIN WITHDRAWAL: the drug clonidine is often used to reduce the effects of heroin withdrawal, or withdrawal from opiate drugs in general, Clonodine reduces blood pressure, and takes the "edge" off . Methadone is another drug used, but only in clinical settings (a detox or hospital) as it is a controlled substance itself- a synthetic opiate. (man made as opposed to the plant "poppies" used to create heroin) It is widely used as a "taper", the patient is started off on a certain amount of methadone according to how much heroin or opiate the person was abusing, and they are brought down slowly, often with other medications such as the aforementioned clonidine to make the withdrawal tolerable.

FOR ALCOHOL WITHDRAWAL: Alcohol withdrawal is incredibly dangerous as opposed to heroin or opiate withdrawal which is horrific in nature but not physically life threatening. Librium is used commonly in a clinical setting (detox or hospital) and used in large amounts if the patient has been drinking heavily and for a long time, This prevents life threatening seizures that can occur from alcohol withdrawal.

FOR BENZODIAZEPINE WITHDRAWAL: benzodiazepines are a class of controlled substance. The most common are Valium, Ativan, and Klonopin. Some are long acting, some are short acting. All are physically addictive and can be life threatening when stopped without a taper.

In a clinical setting (hospital or detox) benzodiazepines such as Ativan are often used to "taper" the patient slowly , so the withdrawal is not as unpleasant as withdrawal from benzodiazepines can cause seizures, visual and auditory hallucinations, panic attacks and rapid heartbeat,

COCAINE WITHDRAWAL: most of the time a patient is simply monitored for cocaine withdrawal as it is not physical in nature, but rather psychological. The intense craving for the drug causes agitation, panic attacks, irrational thinking, and sometimes does require medication such as small amounts of a sedative to relax the patient.

SMOKING/TOBACCO WITHDRAWAL: there are many different smoking cessation aides on the market, and some are over the counter, some are by prescription only.

Transdermal nicotine patches are the most popular, and seem to help the smoker with the withdrawal effects such as irritability, intense craving for the cigarette, etc,

Other types of nicotine products such as inhalers and lozenges are also available.

Recently, the release of "electronic cigarettes" which emit a vapor that does have nicotine in it but not tobacco or real smoke in them has scores of people quitting smoking. The electronic "cigarette" mimics the process of smoking right down to the feeling of smoke going into the mouth and nose, and exhaling- but it is vapor, not smoke that is being used, E-cigarettes, as they are called, have cartridges that are refillable and contain various types of liquid that mimic the patients favorite brand of cigarette.

*drug withdrawal of any kind, including from legal, prescribed medication is a serious issue and should be discussed with one's doctor! Everyone is different in their response to withdrawal, and it's better to be informed and let your doctor know you are stopping a medication or drug- legal OR illegal. Doctors do not judge- and if they DO then it's time to find another doctor!!!!

Any hospital in your area (the ER) is absolutely responsible for finding you a treatment center if you are asking for help for your addiction. They CANNOT refuse you, no matter how long it takes or whether you have insurance or not!!!

Is morphine a stimulant?

That's a good question.

Morphine is a chemical that when used by a doctor or nurse to treat a patient, is a MEDICINE.

If a person uses the chemical morphine illegally, then morphine is a DRUG.

Whether morphine is a medicine or a drug depends on a person's point of view and circumstances. All can agree that it is a chemical though.

How do opiates and narcotics affectthe nervous system?

The nervous system produces its own version of morphine. (endorphins, dynophins, enkephalin, etc.) These intrinsic opiates act at different opiate receptors(mu, beta, and kappa receptors). Extrinsic opiates, like morphine, also fit into these receptors and result in the same effects as intrinsic body opiates.(morphine's pain relieving effects are mostly due to interaction with the mu opiate receptor). Hope that helps

What legal over the counter drugs has same effects as opiates?

Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no such thing. I've done research on it. If you think about it, if you do ANYthing for an extended amount of time that makes you feel good, you will become addicted to it. You're using/doing something that your brain finds rewarding. Anything could be used as a "crutch." Anything from shopping, to sex, to food. Anyway, I've tried finding the same thing. I wish there was, that would be amazing. In my opinion, they need to invent a pill like that ASAP.

What kind of opiate blocker are there?

methadone

also Narcan (right now used mostly in a pilot program in Massachusetts), Suboxone, and Subutex.

Methadone is a HUGE commitment -

you must get into a clinic (most have waiting lists)

have your insurance approved (even with insurance there can be a copay, some BCBS plans are $20/day copay.

go daily to a methadone clinic to receive your dose. It is a liquid dispensed by machine that you must drink and then drink water before leaving the clinic. If there is not a clinic near you, it could mean travel as well. Remember this is daily, so that means going to the clinic 7 days a week, on weekends, holidays, etc.

There is also mandatory counseling and group and random drug testing. If the program is followed people can earn "take home" doses for anywhere from one day to 7 days at a time. Depending on the clinic this can take over a year to earn (and it can be taken away for a failed drug test, missing group, etc). Most clinics are only open in the morning - 8am-10:30am are the ones around here. Obviously this can interfere with work schedules.

Vacations away require finding another clinic in that area who will accept a temporary person, getting approval and paperwork from both clinics and paying a set-up fee and daily fee to the temporary clinic.

Suboxone is comes in pill form and it is dispensed monthly from local pharmacies like other prescriptions written by a Dr. This is the most common pill but it is easy to fail with this approach. You have to take the pill on your own every day. Oftentimes addicts will sell them in exchange for drugs or will only use them as a back-up. If drugs can't be bought for whatever reason, Suboxone is a back-up for withdrawal until the next fix.

Subutex is a little less popular than Suboxone but many Dr.'s still prescribe it. It also comes in a 30 day pill prescription. This is commonly prescribed during pregnancy because it have the least amount of side effect to the baby.

There are more but those are the ones I know because of a family member.

How soon can you take pain medication -opiates after taking methadone four days in a row?

Since Methadone has such a long halflife and is absorbed by fatty tissues inside the body, it could take a few days to a week to safely take an opiate and feel its effects. But since you've only been taking Methadone for four days, try waiting until you start to feel the onset of withdrawal. It could also depend on how many mgs a day you were taking. The higher the mg, the longer it will take for Methadone to clear out of your system.

Will Valium test positive for opiates?

No. 5 panel tests for marijuana, PCP, amphetamines, opiates, and cocaine. Valium is considered a benzo and is a completely differenters class than opiates. Valium is in same class as xanax and ativan. Hope that helps. More panel tests will reveal the benzos though.

Can you shoot up 7.5 mg oxycodone?

If you would like to die you can, but if you want to get high and live, nope. No shooting up pills, there's too many binders and acetominophen. I would assume, since you are asking this, you aren't experienced at iv drug use, so why start now? Really shouldn't snort them either, though some people do. If you want to inject anything, make sure it's something pure, remember this substance will be going through tiny blood vessels and your heart, and if a tiny thing goes wrong on it's journey through your body, you will die.

Do all pain pills show up as opiates on a drug screen?

Answer

According to my wife, which does drug screens for a living, any narcotic based medicine CAN show up on a drug test. Lortab, Percocet, and drugs like that can show up. If you tell your employer (if you are taking something you shouldn't be) before you get the results back most of them will give you a second chance kinda thing. I hope this helps and good luck.

What is the most hallucinogenic opiate?

Opiates by nature are not hallucinogenic agents so the question is a bit awkward. Opiates are depressents. True hallucinogens would include LSD, mescaline and psilocybin.

^the above person doesn't know what they're talking about. you want an opiate that has hi kappa and sigma receptor agonist activity if you want to hallucinate but also make sure it has full mu receptor agonism too so you get that euphoric rush. honesty when i was doing way too much heroin every day i started to see things people claimed didn't really happen after about half a year but for you id recomend straight up opium which many people say is mildly hallucinogenic- try smoking some on top of marijuana ;-)
