Career Speech Outline Draft

I.

INTRODUCTION:

A. My career speech outline is on being a paramedic. The reason I chose being a paramedic is because I think It would be a very fun and challenging job. I would always be moving around from place to place taking patients to and from the hospital.

B. Being a paramedic is basically running to go try and save someone's life. Some of the advantages being a paramedic is the satisfaction of being able to save someone's life, you get to become someone's hero, you can also make new friends and you can leave the day feeling proud of what you did for someone.

C. Some of the disadvantages are have to work long hours without any breaks because paramedics work for two days straight and they are off for one day. Another disadvantage is having to see some people die because they couldn't make it and although it is sad and tragic you must be able to deal with those type of problems, and if you cant then being a paramedic might not be for you.

II.

BODY

A. JOB DESCRIPTION:

1. The definition of paramedic is a person who is trained to give emergency medical treatment or to assist physicians in providing medical care.

2. Some of the duties/responsibilities of being a paramedic is the paramedic must be a confident leader who can accept the challenge and high degree of responsibility entailed in the position. The paramedic is personally responsible for each drug administered, for using the correct precautions and techniques, observing the documenting the effects of drugs administered.

3. To be a paramedic, you must have good communication skills and clear judgment and thinking skills when it comes to a life or death situation.

Another skill you must have an order to be a paramedic is the physical and emotional stamina because at anytime on the job there is a life or death situation, and you must be able to drive under emergency conditions.

4. For a beginner, The salary in the United States for paramedics is 16 - 25 dollars an hour. An experienced paramedic that has been working for 6 years and up can make from 40 to 50 dollars an hour.

5. Recently paramedic employment as been rising, They predict that employment will increase 9 percent each year from 2008 to 2018.

B. PREPARATION

1. The best place in the United States to be a paramedic right now is Miami, Chicago, and New York City. The reason for that is because it has been many murders and a killing in the past 5 years then it has ever been. The education/training needed for this career is that they must have advanced skills in EMT basics. At-least a high school diploma or a G.E.D. You should also have a EMT basic certificate. You must be 18 or older and must have a valid drivers license. You must go through a series of physical training and emotional training in some states, schools for paramedics are 1000 - 10,000 dollars a year. You must have at least two years of medical experience.

C. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

1. The best part of this job is being able to be someone's hero and save someone else's live, but what I dislike about this job is that they don't get paid enough as they should. The reason I think that is because they save peoples life's on a daily basis. Some of the benefits to being a paramedic is having free health insurance that keeps you physically and emotionally fit. I still am interested in this job because It can be fun in some ways, feeling that adrenaline rush when you are saving someone, and because of the simple fact of saying that I saved someone from dying.

CONCLUSION

Ÿ During my outline I talk about many thing such as what the definition of a paramedic is, some of the responsibilities to being a paramedic such as having to have the physical and emotional strength to handle a life or death situation.

Ÿ Another part of my outline was about the skills that are required for this career including great communication skills.

Ÿ You must be a responsible person.

Ÿ You must display leadership working with this profession.

Ÿ I talked about how the growth of employment for paramedics is increasing by 9 percent every year till 2018.

Ÿ I also mentioned about the education/training required, such as needing a high school diploma or a GED.

Ÿ You must go through a series of physical and emotional training before being a paramedic.

Ÿ I mentioned that you must have a valid driver's license to become a paramedic as well, you must also have at least two years of experience.

Ÿ In addition I said that some of the advantages for this career was being able to hear someone say that you are their hero.

Ÿ You can go home knowing that you saved someone's child, wife, mother or father, and even grandmother.

Ÿ The dislikes to this job as I mentioned are having to see other people dying and having the feeling that no matter how hard you tried to save them you couldn't.

Ÿ So think about it, you could be the next person to save someone's life and being called a hero for the rest of your life.

(Note: this applies to fairly informal community-run committees like creche or kindergarten committees. The chairperson is usually the president in such instances. For more formal AGMs I suggest you look elsewhere.)

The chairperson declares the meeting open, welcomes guests and members and accepts the apologies.

The Secretary reads the minutes of the previous AGM (not the previous committee meeting) - sometimes these are just distributed beforehand for people to read. They must then be confirmed with a motion, and seconded - then a vote taken. For example, person A says "I move the adoption of the minutes of the 2008/09 Annual General Meeting" and person B says "I second that motion".

If there is any business arising from the minutes of the previous AGM it is then dealt with. Any correspondence for the AGM is read and dealt with (other correspondence is held over until the next committee meeting). Note: there is rarely any business arising or correspondence at AGMs - such things have generally been resolved in the previous year!

The President then presents his/her annual report, which briefly covers the year's achievements and results. The report is adopted in the same manner (one person moves, and another seconds - these people can be pre-arranged so they might say something nice about the report and/or the work of the president/committee).

The treasurer then presents the annual financial statement. The treasurer then says, "I move that this annual financial report be received and adopted". Someone seconds this motion (and if pre-arranged, might say something nice about the treasurer's work).

The next step is election of office bearers. If the president is likely to continue, he/she should have someone else chair this part of the meeting. The (new) chair then declares all positions vacant. If there is more than one nomination for any position, a secret vote will take place (generally though, those in the running might leave the room so that a show of hands can be counted). Sadly, it is more usual that members are being begged and coerced into joining the committee so voting is fairly rare in my experience! After declaring the results, the new president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and committee members are installed - the guest chair vacates the seat and the new chairperson (usually president) runs the remainder of the meeting.

If there is a guest speaker, the chair will then introduce him or her and they will speak next. A pre-arranged person will thank the guest speaker at the conclusion of their speech (and present a gift if appropriate).

The chair then wishes the new committee well and declares the annual general meeting closed.

What is a reverse outline?

If a regular outline is something you write before you draft out your paper, a reverse outline is something you do after you write a draft.

Why should I reverse outline?

The reverse outline can be an extremely useful tool for helping you see the big picture of your paper, and can be especially useful for papers in need of major reordering of paragraphs or papers filled with paragraphs that have too many ideas in them and therefore don't hold together.

How do I make a reverse outline?

Go through the paper and number each paragraph. Then on a separate sheet of paper, write #1 and the main point (or points) of that first paragraph. Then, on the next line write #2 and the main point(s) of the second paragraph. Go through the entire paper this way. When you have gone through the entire paper, you will have an outline giving you an overview of your entire paper.

Then what?

• Now look carefully at your overview, asking yourself the following questions:
• Are the paragraphs properly focused, or are there multiple main ideas competing for control of a single paragraph?
• Now that you've identified the main point of each paragraph, does the topic sentence reflect that point?
• Are some of those ideas in a paragraph extraneous and should they therefore be deleted from the paper? Or do they simply need to be moved to a different part of the paper? (Many times you may find that a random idea tacked onto the end of, say, paragraph five really belongs in paragraph eleven where you fully develop that idea.) When you look at the outline as a whole, does the organization of the paper reflect what you promised in your introduction / thesis? If the answer is no, consider whether you need to revise the thesis or revise the organization of the paper.

• Creative writing helps you to be a better writer, because practice makes perfect in writing just as in any other skill.

think one of my strongest character trait is creativity. If I get a project on arts and crafts, I am able to think up of very imaginative ideas. In being creative is fun, and straightforward. When I think of creativity, it makes me want to do more and better, and I am able to explore new thoughts. I like making people to become interested in my inspired work, and artistic styles of ingenuity. I like my work to be very unique and . Being artistic makes me challenge myself and I am very lucky to have the skill of creativity.
