Is paxil a ampheTAmine?

Chemicals like Paxil are in a class called SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). Basically, these drugs block the re-uptake of serotonin at the synaptic junction, so there is an overabundance of serotonin.

Amphetamines tend to increase the amount of norepinephrine and dopamine at the synaptic junction, not through blocking the re-uptake (like cocaine) but by increasing the outflow from the presynaptic axon.

Can you mix Tylenol pm with Paxil?

You can, but it is not a good idea. You may die. There is nothing to stop you doing it if you possess free will, however, its very dangerous to combine xanax with anything else. Its best to wait until you are off one before going on another. Ask a doctor for a proper opinion, they are not like parents, they will give you the information you need without overly pressuring you into doing what they think you should do.

Is it safe to mix Ritalin with Paxil?

I have both epilepsy and a type of autism called Asperger's Syndrome. For the epilepsy I take the 500mg depakote. I also take the 1mg risperdal pill for controlling my attitude and help prevent anxiety. Taking both together gives me no problems with them interacting together. Another medication I'm on for anxiety is the 20mg pill Lexapro and it has no interactions with the other 2. To be sure that your medications are safe together though, make sure that all your doctors know what drugs you are on, and ask them about possible side effects.

Speak to your doctor who prescribes these for you, to see if any side effects or counteracting influence could occur with these or other medicines. Mirtazapine is a prescription antidepressant that can interact with many drugs.

How do you quit Paxil without side effects?

Of course talk to your Dr. - you do not want to stop taking this medication all at once. It is recommended that taper off of it to have the least side effects as possible. Consider a taper of 5mg per week, and if that is too much - taper less than that.

Can you take Paxil with inositol?

I currently take 20 mg of Lexapro and 150 mg of Wellbutrin daily along with 650 mg of Inositol twice daily. While one can use Inositol alone to modulate seratonin similar to that of SSRIs it usually requires doses of 10 - 12 mg or even higher to do so. I'm a bigger guy and I wouldn't recommend really exceeding the inositol dose I take in conjunction with Lexapro or a similar SSRI due to the risk of Seratonin Syndrome (also called Sertagonic Syndrome.) It can boost the effectiveness of the SSRI as I feel it does with me. However, the Lexapro and Wellbutrin combination really works great for some as it does for me.

Could someone tell me who has been on and then weaned off of Paxil what their brain zaps felt like because mine feel more like body zaps or jolts and I am wanting to know if it is the same thing?

Yes this is the same thing. I am on effexor and get the same side effect if I miss a pill. The jolts aren't harmful, but they are very disconcerting. Check with your Dr to see if they can ween you off more slowly.

Can you take Elavil in place of Paxil?

It depends on which other medications you are on. Elavil (amitriptyline) is as effective as Paxil (paroxetine), if dosed properly. However, Elavil is far more anti-cholinergic, meaning that it causes drying of the mucus membranes - and, therefore, constipation, urinary retention, dry skin, dry eyes, and even "dry brain" (which is a medical colloquialism indicating for poor concentration and short-term memory, and even confusion) could occur - especially when any dehydration might occur.

Elavil is also more cardiotoxic, and has far more interactions with other drugs and medications, than Paxil (or other SSRI antidepressants).

Check with your prescribing physician before making this very significant kind of change in your medication regimen.
