Antibacterial drugs that inhibits cell wall synthesis?

Penicillin destroys cell walls of bacteria by interfering with the formation of Peptide cross-bridges of peptidoglycan to prevent the formation of an active cell wall.

Do you think it is ok for my 4 year old take penicillin and tixylix cough syrup at the same time?

Yes, there are no ingredients that will interfere with each other if you give your child Penicillin and Tixylix cough syrup at the same time. These 2 medications are known to work well together when a child has a cold with a fever and cough.

Do dogs have penicillin on their tongues?

Dogs do not have penicillin on their tongues. Penicillins are antibiotics originally made from the fungus Penicillium and now manufactured by pharmaceutical companies using partially artificial processes.

What penicillin can be used for STDs?

It can't hurt... Unless the STD is fungal, like a yeast infection, or tinea cruris "jock itch".

Antibiotics (Penicillin) kill bacteria--- bacteria kills fungi = Much worse than you were before.

Penicillin is only effective on bacterial STDs, which are the most common.

Viral STDs are the one kind you don't want! NOTHING cures them. Some you can treat the symptoms and eventually the virus will leave your body.. but some kill you.

Parasites- (crabs and scabies) are cured with Permethrin, basically it's an insecticide.

Protozoal- (trichomoniasis) is cured with Metronidazole, it's an antibiotic... but Penicillin probably wont work because trichomonissis is an anaerobic bacteria.

So to break it down

If you don't know what kind of STD you have then I would suggest taking the Penicillin. If it gets better great, no needs to know what kind it was. If it gets worse, then its fungal and can be cured with anti-fungal meds. If there is no change it could be viral, parasitic, or protozal... and pray its not viral.
It is highly unlikely that you will be able to obtain a prescription for Penicillin from a physician if you do not have an established, legitimate medical reason for needing it. If you have reason to believe that you have unknowingly contracted a sexually transmitted disease, immediately request a medical examination. If it is determined that you do indeed have an STD and need Penicillin, then and only then should you take it.

Further, Penicillin is known to cause a number of adverse side effects, such as: rashes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and neurotoxicity. It isn't worth the risk unless you are certain you need it.

Does apo-indomethacin contain penicillin?

Apo-indomethacin is not an antibiotic and doesn't contain penicillin.

What is the difference between penicilin and streptomycin?

Peniciilin is derived from Penicillium chrysogenum and is active against Gram-positive bacteria. It connects peptidoglycan strands by irreversibly interacting with transpeptidase and prohibits the last cell wall synthesis.

Streptomycin-sulfate is derived from Streptomyces griseusan and is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It is active against Gram-negative bacteria and Mycobacteria and inhibits initiation of the protein biosynthesis.

Penicillin and Streptomycin are often used together.

Can you take erythromycin and penicillin together?

Although some in vitro data indicate synergism between macrolide antibiotics and penicillins, other in vitro data indicate antagonism. When these drugs are given together, neither has predictable therapeutic efficacy. Data are available for erythromycin, although theoretically this interaction could occur with any macrolide. Except for monitoring of the effectiveness of antibiotic therapy, no special precautions appear to be necessary.

NOTE: Always take medications as prescribed and directed by your physician, with any advice from your pharmacist.

When was penicillin invented?

The antibiotic properties of penicillin were first recognized by A. Flemming in 1928. Commercial production of penicillin came from the pioneer work of E. Chain and H.W. Florey in 1938. Penicillin was made available to allied troops in the latter part of World War II.

Is Erythromycin and penicillin in the same category?

YES they are related but they are distant cousins.. i am allergic to pennicillin but not to erythromycin. i have been on antibiotics serveral times so i am 100 percent sure of this.. i have had to have erythromycin before and they watched me in the emergency room to make sure i didnt have a reaction.. they are related but since they are only related close enough to be distant cousins they will often try people who are allergic to pennicillin on erythromycin. my aunt can not take either one but i am lucky enough to be able to take the erythromycin but with pennicillin i can not breath!
