It depends, some tournaments give out clip on ballmarks, others give out divot tools, they usually get some sort of apparel, some tournaments even give out golf bags with the word "contestant" on the flap that they put their name on. Typically they'll also receive some sort of product from the main sponsor of the tournament IE the frys.com open, they received $500 gift cards.

How do you earn a PGA tour card?

One way is to get a job at a golf course working under a class A pro. Then you can become an apprentice and you are on your way. After proving your playing ability and course and pro shop knowledge, you too can become a class A pro. It takes about 3 years. Another way is try to get your PGA tour card. That's 6 days of tough golf for only a few spots. You have to be a player. Remember there are two types of golf pro's.... You have professional golfers (they play for a living) then there's golf professionals (they work at a golf course) The first ones generelly don't know anything about the day to day operation of a golf course.

The most straitforward was is to pay the $4000 entry fee for the "Qualifying" school. There are 3 stages: 1st stage is 4 rounds and the top 10% get to 2nd stage, and then the top few get to the final stage which is 6 long rounds. The top 25 finishers there get their card. Another way to get a Tour card is to play on the Nationwide Tour and win 3 events in a season or finish in the top 15 on that money list.

To keep your tour card, the top 125 ranked players on the "Official Money List" are exempt for the following year. Also, if you win a tournament, you are exempt for the following year. As of this writing, the 125th player has just over $740,000 in winnings.

Q-school is now $5000 or $4500 if paid before a certain date. There is also an additional stage that has been added called the pre qualifier which is 4 rounds. players that don't meet any of the qualifications to get into 1st stage play in the pre qualifier. The entry fee is reduced ($2500) with an additional $2500 due after a player advances to stage #1. In 2006 there were 4 sites used for this stage. I played at PGA West and 40 players were advanced from this site a little less than half the field. PGATOUR.com has any Q-School info you may need or call PGA tour headquarters competition department for any additional info.

Do PGA golfers pay entry fees for tournaments they play in?

PGA Tour members do not pay entry fees to play in PGA Tournaments. Other nonmembers pay an entry fee of $400.

Also:

1) The Masters is by invitation only

2) No entry fee for the PGA Championship

3) Players pay an entry fee of $125 for the U.S. Open qualifying

4) An entry fee for the British Open is $162.

Actually all events have an entry fee and all professionals pay, regardless of status on tour. This includes current members of the PGA Tour. The fee is typically $400. This is an "out of pocket" expense that is not reimbursed by the Tour.

Do pros change their grip when they want to shape the ball?

Some professional golfers do, and others let their club face and swing path do it. When players want to hit a fade, if they are right handed, they will usually move their right thumb further left, and for a draw they would move their right thumb further right.

What does a PGA Tour card look like?

The PGA Tour card - "What is it?"

The "PGA Tour card" is a small business-size card with their name, basic info, and year. Here is a picture of Casey Martin with his:

http://augustasports.com/images/headlines/102599casey_martinLR.jpg

The actual card is only a symbol of the playing priveledges earned by the player. It is not necessary to present the card to play in an event, the PGA organizers have all the information on site as to who is eligible to enter or attempt to qualify. All players must present two forms of ID upon registration, at least one with photo, not matter how recognizable a player is. The PGA Tour card can be used for one of these IDs, and commonly is along with the players' drivers' license or passport.

ANSWER:

It's just like a small card that looks like atm card or credit card..

Who has the most hole in ones on the PGA tour?

Art Wall jr. had 54 holes -in -one in his lifetime............9 holes in one were recorded as an amateur golfer in Pennsylvania and at Duke University......However... he was credited with 45 Holes in One in Professional Tour Events....that included PGA Tour,South American Tour, and the European Tour.......No other PGA or Professional Golfer participating in Major Tours is even close to this record.........Jack Nicklaus has 22 Holes in One and he is second on the All Time List to Art Wall jr.

Ben Hogan who was a close friend of Art Wall jr. stated that he was one of the " Greatest Iron Players " he had ever seen ! Wall used a somewhat unorthodox " baseball grip" throughout his career . In 1959,he was the No. 1 Golfer in the World

winning The Masters by coming from behind in the last 9 holes to defeat Master's Champion Arnold Palmer and Dr. Cary Middlecoff for the green jacket. During 1959 he managed to win the Vardon Trophy( lowest stroke average for a PGA Professional) and was the leading money winner on the PGA Tour. Health issues and injuries plagued Wall throughout his career but he did win several prestigious PGA Tour events to include the Tournament of Champions and the Bing Crosby's Pebble Beach Tournament. He also was instrumental along with Ben Hogan,Jimmy DeMarrett,Gene Littler,Harvey Pennick...in establishing the Legend's of Golf Tournament in Austin , Texas...which eventually led to the Senior Tour or Champion's Tour. Art Wall passed into Golf Heaven in 2003.

How many golf balls are allowed in a PGA Golf tournament per player?

You can carry as many as you like. It doesn't matter as they count on strokes not balls. However, you are expected to use the same ball from tee to the hole unless you loose it, or it becomes unplayable due to damage. You can play a new ball on every hole if you wish.

How much does it cost to enroll in the PGA's Q-School?

2005 entry fees were as follows: * Pre-qualify - $4,500 * 1st stage - $4,500 * 2nd stage - $4,000 * 3rd stage - $3,500 You only pay a one time fee, you don't have to come up with these figures each time you enter a new stage. So, if you are pre-qualifying for q-school the whole thing will cost you $4,500. If you have an exemption of sorts that gets you into the second stage it will cost you $4,000.....and so on. 2004's fees were roughly the same. 2006's haven't been set yet and are subject to change from what you see above. You can download a 2005 application to go over with this address: http://www.pgatour.com/u/photos/misc/2005/jul/2005qapplication-pgatour.pdf Hopefully it will give you a better idea of what to expect....good luck!

How can you play on the nationwide PGA golf tour?

One way is to attend the PGA tour school and finish in the first 50 or so positions of the final stage that do not make the PGA TOUR. I believe this is about positions 36 to eighty something. A second way is through Monday qualifying. A few top finishers in the Monday tournament get to play in the weekend event. The Nationwide tour, like the PGA tour, also has a few spots for sponsor exemptions. The tour director chooses from those who have written in to apply for these spots. Finally, those top 50 or so money leaders who do not graduate from the Nationwide Tour to the PGA Tour each season, may return to play on the Nationwide Tour the following season. Practice, practice, practice!
