Does a substance such as coke or pepsi dissolve a piece of chalk quicker depending on its pH levels?

coke is pretty acidic, it is around pH 3.2 and since chalk is a carbonate, it undergoes the a classic acid base reaction similar to the vinegar + baking soda reaction. so it would appear to an observer like it is dissolving faster

but i think if this is a homework question your teacher has asked a flawed question becase the chalk does not dissolve it reacts which is two different things (chemical change vs physical change)

also you have to keep in mind the fact that coke is a pretty saturated solution as it has ~40g of glucose/fructose and this can affect solubility

What is the pH of nail polish remover?

pH level of nail polish remover is the same as ammonia; 11-12

What is the pH of soda water?

It would be weakly acidic due to the dissolved carbon dioxide, resulting in weak carbonic acid, so soda water would be about pH 3 or 4. However, bottlers may balance the acid with something like sodium bicarbonate so that it is closer to the neutral 7 of pure water. Salts may be added to disguise the slightly sour taste of the carbonic acid.

PH of bile?

The pH of bile ranges from 7.6 to 8.6, making it slightly alkaline. This alkaline nature helps to neutralize the acidic chyme coming from the stomach, creating an optimal environment for the function of enzymes in the small intestine.

How do pH levels effect your teeth?

if a human males blood pH level gets too high the teeth will start to grow a mind of their own, causing them to start trying to detatch from the gums and fall down the oesophagus, and start to eat the food in the stomach. This will cause the human host to starve, when they get to a certain size they will explode, much like the scene from aliens where the alien comes out of the guys stomach while at the dinner table. This can cause many problems, mainly death.

What is the pH level of glucose?

pH is chemical term describing solutions of acids and bases. Due to the charged nature of hydrogen ions, acids release them and acts as a proton donor. Bases are proton acceptors. Glucose is a common molecular compound and basic form of sugar. It has no pH. If disolved in water, the water's pH shouldn't change unless hydrogen ions are generated. Sugary liquids such as orange juice and colas are acid, with a pH of 3-4. I have not seen many sugary substances with basic pH's.

What is the pH level of tums?

I believe it is around an 8. What it does is helps to maintain somewhat of a "homeostasis" within your stomach, preventing upset stomach and what not.

What is the pH of lye?

The pH of lye, also known as sodium hydroxide, is typically around 14, making it a very strong base.

What is a normal pH level for the esophagus?

The normal pH level for the esophagus is around 7.0 to 7.4. This slightly alkaline pH helps protect the esophageal lining from damage caused by stomach acid, bile, and other digestive fluids. An abnormal pH, such as below 4.0, may indicate gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or other issues.

What substance has a pH level of 11?

A substance with a pH level of 11 is considered to be alkaline, and examples include household ammonia, oven cleaner, and some laundry detergents. These substances have a high concentration of hydroxide ions, which makes them basic on the pH scale.

What is the pH of borax?

The pH of borax is around 9.3-9.5 in a 1% solution. It is considered a weak base due to its alkaline properties.

The pH of ethanol?

the pH of ethanol can be calculated using its pKa value (pKa 15.9) and the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation.

pH = pKa - log [AH/A]

where [AH/A] the ratio of disassociated versus undisassociated species in solution.

What is the pH level in sprite?

Sprite has a pH level of around 3.3, making it acidic. Regular consumption of acidic beverages like Sprite can contribute to dental erosion and other health issues.

PH levels of the hair and skin?

pH level of the hair and skin are 5.5

What is the pH of DNA?

The pH of DNA is typically around 7.5 to 8.0, which is slightly basic. DNA is a negatively charged molecule due to the phosphate groups in its structure, which can affect its interactions with other molecules in different pH environments.

Does Limestone rock affect your salt water pool Ph levels and does the rocks breakdown from the salt?

I just conducted an experiment with a small amount of limstone in beakers of acids and bases and the Ph levels stayed the same.

How do fertilizers affect the pH of waterways?

Fertilizers contain nitrogen and phosphorus which can affect the pH of water ways. A pH of 7 is neutral. When water pH is raised above this, it can have harmful affects on the waterway, causing nutrient or water pollution.

What is the pH of a weak acid?

The pH of a weak acid is typically below 7, as it partially dissociates in water to release hydrogen ions. The exact pH value will depend on the concentration and dissociation constant of the weak acid.

What is the pH level in Tylenol?

Tylenol or acetaminophen oral solution for adults has a pH level of 3.8 to 6.1. The oral suspension for children has of 5.4 to 6.9 of pH level.

PH level of orange juice?

The pH level of orange juice typically ranges from 3.3 to 4.2. This acidity is due to the presence of citric acid in the juice.

What is the pH of ethanol?

102

due to it being an amazing substance!

Ethanol is neither acidic nor basic. So pH is much about the same as of the water, wine, beer, etc.

What is the pH of H3PO4?

The pH of H3PO4 (phosphoric acid) depends on its concentration. For a 1M solution, the pH would be around 0.91. Since phosphoric acid is a weak acid that can donate three protons, its pH decreases with increasing concentration due to the dissociation of H+ ions.

Can something be level and out of plumb?

YES. Level is interpruted to be horizontal and plumb vertical. Now, most levels have a plumb level and can be used in the vertical position. this is stil however checking for plumb and not level. Hope this helps Terry

Should pool copping be level?

Pool coping should be level. If it is "bullnose" brick they should all be about the save height all the way around the pool. A cantilever coping should be level as well. there should be no toe stubbers.
