What are the ideal breeding conditions for goldfish including pH levels water temperature hardness dissolved oxygen etc?

The best thing to do would be to go to a place that sells the fish. They would be able to tell you.

Ideal pH levels are slightly alkaline, between 7.2 and 7.6 Temperature should be 74. Your hardness should be between 11 and 22 (measured in German degrees, as most tests do, this translates to 200-400 ppm). Nothing I have read has concrete answers on dissolved oxygen unfortunately, all they say is that goldfish need a lot of it. Making sure you have good water movement (NOT a bubbler, but actual movement, such as from powerheads and some types of filter) will contribute to high oxygen levels, as will plants that are broader-leafed (so your goldies don't eat them). Hope this helps!

Which is better to use to lower Total Alkalinity level Muriatic Acid or pH Minus?

I tried both types of acid. The pH Minus (dry acid) and then the muriatic acid. I did not have much luck at all with the total alkalinity (TA) dropping with the dry acid. When I used the muriatic acid the TA dropped within a couple of days. So to answer your question I'd have to say the muriatic acid. It is much cheaper ($12 a case) at Leslie's Pool Supply and probably cheaper other places. The muriatic acid was also quicker and had better results.

How do you fix an aboveground pool with Baquacil that has been shocked and clarified and its levels are good but it is still cloudy?

The first thing to do would be to test for the Total Alkalinity. If it is not within the 60-120 range the water will be cloudy and nothing will clear it up except adjusting it.

Another thing would be to chemically clean the filter. Baquacil recommends that you chemically clean it at least once a month, if the filter is clogged up it could cause the pool to be cloudy.

The last resort would be to add the Flocculant.

When your pool water gets out of balance when using Baquacil do you have go the pool center or can you adjust it yourself?

If you have Baquacil Test Strips then going to the Pool Center would not be necessary, you can just do it yourself and adjust the readings.

How can you tell if your water level dropping is normal or a leak?

Fill a bucket with water, then mark the water level on the bucket with a waterproof marker. Set the bucket next to the pool. Next, mark the water level of the pool. After a couple of days, check the marks on the bucket and the pool. They should measure the same (having lost the same amount of water due to evaporation). If the pool level has dropped more than the level of water in the bucket, you have a leak somewhere. (By the way, make sure your dog hasn't drank out of the bucket, or pool!)

What is the pH of your small intestine and the enzymes there?

The pH of the highly acid stomach is changed to about 6 in the duodenum, then gradually decreases to about 7.4 in the terminal ileum of the small intestine. It drops to 5.7 in the caecum and gradually increases again, reaching a pH of 6.7 in the rectum.

Proteolytic enzymes, including trypsin and chymotrypsin break down proteins. Lipase breaks down triglycerides into free fatty acids. Amylase breaks down some carbohydrates (notably starch) into oligosaccharides. Brush border enzymes, most importantly dextrinase and glucoamylase further break down oligosaccharides. Other brush border enzymes in the intestines are maltase, sucrase and lactase.

How is the pH of the stomach maintained?

Alkaline pancreatic juices are secreted into the small intestine and neutralize the acidic chyme.

Is a sodium level of 120 low?

120 is a very low number for sodium, and may result in seizure activity. The normal range for sodium is 135 to 145 mEq/L (millequivelents per liter.)

Just to add to this, my sodium is 122 and my doctor said that this is very near critical. If you have a blood sodium level at 120 your doctor should be taking steps to correct it and find the cause.

Why is an excess amount of sodium hydroxide added to aspirin?

Aspirin (which is an acid) gives some people an upset stomach. Sodium Bicarbonate is a buffer- it slows acid changes, and prevents upset stomachs.

What is a normal blood oxygenation level?

Normal oxygen level of the earth's atmosphere is 21.5%. An oxygen deficient atmosphere is anything below 19.5%. Oxygen enriched atmospheres are 22.5% or greater (explosion hazard in the emergency responder arena).

What is the pH level of simple soap?

The pH of water soap solutions is low basic. The exact value depends on the type and producer.

How does pH affect hydrogel?

pH has a vital role in formation of coacervates. pH changes the surface charge of the polymer in its solution. When two types of charges are present in the solution, the environment prefers binding and crosslinking. When this sort of aggregation develops, we see droplets of coacervates in the system. now How pH changes the surface charge density? The total charge of the polymer solution(system) is zero at its pI or isoelectric point which is fixed for a particular polyampholytic polymer like gelatin. However no pI exists for purely anionic and purely cationic polymers. For example, Agar is a polyanionic polymer. When the pH of solution is less than the PI, the positive charges get dominated over it and vice versa. These charges affect the binding property in the system and hence the coacervate formation. What substance has pH 8 and PH 10?

A substance with a pH of 8 is considered mildly alkaline and could be something like sea water or bicarbonate solution. A substance with a pH of 10 is more alkaline and could include solutions like sodium carbonate or some cleaning agents. Both pH levels indicate basicity, with pH 10 being significantly more alkaline than pH 8.

How do I check the pH of my pool?

The following company are branded in chemistry analysis:

1. Sigma-Aldrich

2. Merck

3. Perkin Elmer

4. Mettler Toledo

5. Agilent

What is the pH level in rotting butter?

the pH of whole fat butter (72-86% fat) is 4.1-4.6 mainly because FFA.

What do you measure pH?

The pH of solutions (liquids) is measured.

Why would the pH value change for normal tap water?

Because it's not pure water. It has other minerals and additives in it, which throw off the pH a bit. Tap water's pH can vary by region of the country, or world depending upon what else is in it besides water. Even bottled water isn't pure; you have to distill it.
