The piranha belong to the phylum Chordata, and the class Osteichthyes.

They don't kill humans intenionally. The only reason they may attack a human is if they sense fear. Once they do, they know you are vunrable. Piranhas in captivity have lived more than twenty years, but ten to fifteen can be considered normal in freshwater.
I don't know how long on average wild piranha live, but the world's oldest recorded prianha was kept in an aquarium in Bolton, Lancashire, and lived to be around 40 years old, before it died around 1999. Correction, the piranha died in 2000 and was, sadly, only 24.

A single piranha can not eat something the size of a human. It would take concidering the type and size quite many. the smallest pirahnas wich are the silver red bellied piranhas in a group of 500 could devoure something that size in aproximately ten minutes.

In Piranha attack, they take bites each from different parts one after the other until they are full or the prey it totally devoured. Only bones are left in most cases.

The piranha releases a hormone into the water when it is ready to spawn. Both fish become dark in color and they act territorial and aggressive to any intrusions.
