Placenta

Placenta is the organ that attaches itself to the uterus during the earliest stages of pregnancy. It provides blood, oxygen, and nourishment to the fetus while also allowing a way for waste to exit the baby's blood as well.

Kids-Umbilical cord?

When the baby is in the mother's uterus, it can't eat or breathe on its own, so it needs some help. The baby has a little tube that goes to its middle called the umbilical cord. The umbilical cord goes to the placenta, which connects to the mother's uterus.

Here's how it works. First, the food that the mother eats and air that she breathes get into her bloodstream as very tiny pieces called molecules.

These molecules, or tiny pieces of food and air, travel through the mother's bloodstream to her placenta. From there, they go to the umbilical cord and into the baby's body. That's how the baby eats and breathes inside the uterus.

After a baby is born, the umbilical cord goes away. Guess what's left? Your belly button.

Can pressing hard on the uterus cause placenta abruption?

Yes, pressing hard on the uterus can potentially cause placental abruption, although it is relatively uncommon. Abruption occurs when the placenta detaches from the uterine wall before delivery, which can be triggered by trauma or excessive pressure. Factors such as physical injury, falls, or other forms of significant impact are more commonly associated with this condition. If there are concerns about pressure on the uterus or symptoms of abruption, it's essential to seek medical attention promptly.

What is the mammalian group that lacks a placenta?

Fish, birds, crocodiles, insects, lizards, amphibians, and pretty much anything that isn't a mammal or gives live birth.

Could taking drugs cause placenta separation?

Yes, using cocaine in particular can cause the placenta to separate from the uterus during pregnancy (placental abruption).

What is the placenta barrier?

The placenta is an organ that connects the developing fetus to the uterine wall. The placenta supplies the fetus with oxygen and food, and allows fetal waste to be disposed via the maternal kidneys. The placenta develops from the same sperm and egg cells that form the fetus, and functions as a fetomaternal organ with two components, the fetal part (Chorion frondosum), and the maternal part (Decidua basalis).

Will 3 shots of tequila at 1 week pregnant affect your unborn baby?

If your worried relax, this will not have serious side effects on the baby. Occasional drinking during pregnancy, though i personally do not condone it, is recommended by some scientists. However they recommend wine not Tequila, but as long as your not going to make this a daily habit there is not much need for worry.

From a different author:

Drinking during pregnancy is more dangerous during the first trimester because this is when the embryo is forming all of the body systems. As for whether 3 shots would be damaging, it depends how quickly you consumed them---for example, taking all three together is more damaging than taking one each hour for three hours. In any event, the good news is that this early in your pregnancy, if the embryo is damaged it is more likely to result in miscarriage than a handicapped child (natures safegaurd, since we don't know we are pregnant that early).

Can you pass the fetus and placenta separately during miscarriage?

Yes. I have had two miscarriages, both at 8 to 9 weeks. The first one, everything came out as one. On the second one, I passed the fetus first then passed the placenta the next time I went to the toilet. The placenta is much bigger.

I'm 26 weeks pregnant with a low laying placenta and started bleeding?

Go see your doctor as soon as possible, call them right now. It could be a cervical change that can cause vaginal bleeding. Vaginal bleeding can also be a symptom of ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. Another cause for bleeding during pregnancy is a miscarriage although the first two reasons for bleeding are more common, it is still a good idea to contact your doctor. ANSWER GO TO THE HOSPITAL IMMEDIATELY I know this statement was made a while back but for anyone else, the commonest cause of bleeding in mid-late pregnancy is the low lying placenta (placenta previa) A cervical change is possible, an ectopic would present at around six weeks, and you don't always bleed, You would not have a miscarriage at this staGe (only prior to 20 weeks) it would be pre-term labor.

What if the placenta is too close to cervix opening?

If the placenta is too close to the cervix opening, a condition known as placenta previa, it can pose risks during pregnancy and delivery. This can lead to bleeding and complications for both the mother and the baby, especially during labor. Depending on the severity, doctors may recommend close monitoring, bed rest, or a cesarean delivery to ensure safety. It's important for expectant mothers with this condition to follow their healthcare provider's guidance.

Can you hear placenta sounds but not fetal sounds If you are 10 - 11 weeks pregnant and still be healthy pregnancy?

I never heard of placenta sounds?? You should be able to hear your baby's heartbeat by week 11-12 the latest.

What is a circumvallate placenta and could it cause any problems?

In circumvallate placenta, the placenta presents with elevated margins because the location as to where the placenta attaches at implantation is too small for the entire placenta to attach causing the placental edges to be loose. The could possibly cause the placenta to function poorly and not supply the baby with adequate o2.

The placenta ends curve and curl inwards. The problem is if the placenta continues to develop in more and more curve and then separates from the uterus. That would mean the need for an emergency delivery of the baby so it becomes very critical the earlier this happens. I don't know the odds of the placenta separating, and nothing may happen at all, it's just important to make sure the baby is getting the nourishment it needs via the placenta and act immediately should any bleeding occur.

The doctor said it's not common to see this and there is nothing I have done in the past or anything I can do to avoid problems with separation.
