Pollution

Pollution is the process of giving out contaminants such as smoke and carbon dioxide, and too much of a certain product such as light, heat and sound that both cause harm to the environment.

Which mining method contributes to excessive erosion increased sediment water pollution and air pollution?

The mining method that contributes to excessive erosion, increased sediment water pollution, and air pollution is surface mining, particularly open-pit mining. This method involves removing large volumes of soil and rock, leading to significant land disturbance and erosion. The exposed materials can release sediments into nearby water bodies, polluting them, while the dust generated during the mining process contributes to air pollution. Additionally, the disruption of ecosystems can further exacerbate these environmental issues.

How does the use of unleaded petrol and catalytic converts in automobiles help in reducing pollution?

A long time ago, probably around 1975 somebody determined that a vast majority of our air pollution was coming from our automobiles. That makes sense. If you have millions and millions of automobiles all over the world letting out harmful exhaust into the air it only stands to reason that cars are one of the major culprits when it comes to air pollution. There are actually three elements that are converted intocatalyitic converters reduce pollution by converting carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide which is a less harmful gasless harmful elements. The three are hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. As the catalytic converter emits CO2 and H2O in the air. The gasses absorbe infra red radiation emitted by the earth and re-radiate the energy as heat back towards the earth. So the more CO2 and H2O emitted to the air the more heat there will be. So no, the catalytic converter does not help reduce the greenhouse effect.

What gases are formed which contribute to acid rain exhumed when burning petrol?

The exhumation and burning of the corpses was carried out by Jewish. Narrow gauge line sections were then placed crossways on top of the structure to form a close-meshed solid grate. But this used to be a reason of acid rain earlier.

The burning of petrol releases gases like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen and its compouds and sulphur dioxide. Sulphur dioxide and trioxide along with compounds of nitrogen cause acid rain

Should farmers be exempt from pollution laws?

Certainly not. Agriculture is responsible for a huge amount of pollution; fertilisers and pseticides run into rivers and streams, and cattle and livestock produce huge volumes of gas and introduce yet more waste into the water system.

What are the 6 annexes in marine pollution?

measure to avoid marine pollutions by oil annex 1

measure to avoid marine pollution by noxious liquid substances annex 2

measure to avoid marine pollution by harmful substances annex 3

measure to prevent marine pollution by seawage from ship annex 4

measure to prevent marine pollution by garbage annex 5

measure to prevent marine pollution by air pollution annex 6

What gas absorb and trap heat radiation?

Collectively the gases in the Earth's atmosphere which trap heat are called the Greenhouse Gases (GHGs). They are prmarily:

  • Water vapour (H2O)
  • Carbon dioxide (CO2)
  • Methane (CH4)
  • Nitrous oxide (N2O)
  • Ozone (O3)
  • Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)

How many pounds of carbon monoxide do cars produce?

According to the SMMT there are over 30 million cars on the road. Each car produces about 3,050 lbs of carbon/year give or take. (this is an average of 4, 6, and 8 cylinder cars that have been well maintained, weigh one ton, and drive the average of 12,000 miles/year. This figure also includes the rate of CO2 emissions as 5lbs/gallon) Therefore, on average, cars produce 915 X (10 to the 7th power) lbs of carbons/year! this is a loose estimate based on several assumptions, however all assumptions are educated and researched. hopefully some one will be able to give a more detailed answer than this.

What pollutes more cars or trains?

Rocket and planes.

Answer:

As detailed in the appended link the emissions from every mode of transportation vary so much depending on load, distance driven etc. that a direct and general purpose comparison is difficult to arrive at.

In most cases even finding a basis fo comparison is difficult although gms of emission per passenger-kilometer or tonne-kkilometer is common.

In the case of cars the answer id further confused by the availability of hybrid, electric, and osil fuel engines and motors, each with their own emission characteristics.

Why are amphibians good warning devices for water pollution?

because they start to die when there is water pollution and that tells us that there is water pollution

How does the pollution in Earths water go away?

It doesn't really go away naturally. However, we have built water purification plants to help purify the water.

What are the types of carbon pollution?

Well i can only think of 2 types, CO2 with is complete combustion of hydrocarbons, so there was enough O2 in the air to react with the carbon from the hydrocarbons. And CO carbon monoxide, when there isn't enough O2 in the air, i think there is a 3rd but i dont have a effin clue what it is.

How much pollution does a coal power station produce per day?

Burning coal is a leading cause of smog, acid rain, global warming, and air toxics. In an average year, a typical coal plant generates:

  • 3,700,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), the primary human cause of global warming--as much carbon dioxide as cutting down 161 million trees.
  • 10,000 tons of sulfur dioxide (SO2), which causes acid rain that damages forests, lakes, and buildings, and forms small airborne particles that can penetrate deep into lungs.
  • 500 tons of small airborne particles, which can cause chronic bronchitis, aggravated asthma, and premature death, as well as haze obstructing visibility.
  • 10,200 tons of nitrogen oxide (NOx), as much as would be emitted by half a million late-model cars. NOx leads to formation of ozone (smog) which inflames the lungs, burning through lung tissue making people more susceptible to respiratory illness.
  • 720 tons of carbon monoxide (CO), which causes headaches and place additional stress on people with heart disease.
  • 220 tons of hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds (VOC), which form ozone.
  • 170 pounds of mercury, where just 1/70th of a teaspoon deposited on a 25-acre lake can make the fish unsafe to eat.
  • 225 pounds of arsenic, which will cause cancer in one out of 100 people who drink water containing 50 parts per billion.
  • 114 pounds of lead, 4 pounds of cadmium, other toxic heavy metals, and trace amounts of uranium.

Burning plastic smell when air conditioner is on?

Happening to us, too, with a brand new GE room air conditioner, 5000BTU. Plastic smell is mentioned in the appliance brochure which says the smell can last 2 weeks. But I was worried about toxic fumes so I called GE. The woman told me the smell should last only a couple of hours and that I should take it back.

So now we have to take it out of the window, hump it 40 minutes to the store, get another one, hump it home, install it and see if this one is any better. If not, we have to repeat the process. That's GE customer service?! Also, very noisy. I'm looking elsewhere.

If a person dies because of accidental drowning does it matter what he was doing prior to entering the water?

One possibility is that they may have eaten a meal, especially a large meal. Since our bodies require a very large expenditure of energy, participating in activities that also require a large amount of energy like swimming overloads our bodies resources. It is possible to get muscle cramps and/or have more difficulty swimming. If you're jogging after you eat, you can always stop if you start to feel tired, but if you are swimming, you may not be able to get close to the shore or more shallow water. The danger is the possibility of drowning.

I assume an insurance company is trying to deny a claim. If the deceased was drinking heavily, taking illegal drugs or running from the police, they may try to say it was the result of an illegal activity. They may also have a clause exclucing certain dangerous activities - did he skydive or basejump into the water?

What are the benefits from zero emission vehicles?

everything! to name a few, there will be less greenhouse gasses going up in the atmosphere, so then global warming will slow down or stop, and there will be less environmental issues! please ditch your gas guzzler and get a 0-emission vehicle
