When will the BP oil spill be cleaned up?
Boats are sent out to skim oil from the surface of the water. Oil floats, so a large portion of the issue is this floating oil. Secondly, oil that makes it to the beaches must be manually picked up and wiped from the object it is coating. Animal life needs to be bathed and scrubbed of this oil. Time will help the issue too.
Nature has always made oil slicks and leaked oil into rivers, streams and ocean currents. Nature can survive these smaller attacks with oil. The larger spilling, such as the Exxon Valdez and both Gulf spills take more effort then nature can produce by herself.
that's all i have for now:)
hope it helped :)
Who should be blamed for environment pollution government or people?
It's about a 50/50 blame. The government does very little to cut down on pollution. But, people are the ones who put so much CO2 into the air. If I was to side on one, I would say the people are somewhat the bigger problem.
What are the advantages on water pollution?
Some people consider the employment of people to clean the water is an advantage of water pollution. The fact that you could get sick from drinking polluted water is an example of a disadvantage.
Cause and effects of water pollution?
Do blackboards and books cause pollution?
They by themselves produce little or no pollution. The pollution comes from the manufacture of the blackboard and book. There may be chemicals in the blackboard and book that can leech out, but it is probably extremely small. I work in a paper mill and we monitor the pollution we produce from the paper making process very closely and we try very hard to minimize that pollution.
How do you make a poster on water pollution?
You find images from google with dirty water, and write WATER POLLUTION with artwork somewhere on the poster.
How do buses cause air pollution?
Like trucks, buses need a lot of force for it to start the engine, and the process of burning gas in the engine causes air pollution. Depending on how big and how heavy the bus is, buses do burn a lot of gas and therefore produce co2 in the atmosphere.
How did the government find out about the oil spill?
The US Coast Guard learned of the accident shortly after it occurred. The Deepwater Horizon drilling rig issued a distress signal. At the time of the accident, the Damon Bankston, a work boat was pulled up next to the rig, and was used as to coordinate rescue operations before the US Coast Guard cutter could get to the accident. The location of the spill was easy to find, as the oil rig was on fire and flames were as much as 200 ft high.
Who paid for the clean up from the Exxon Valdez?
In the case of Baker v. Exxon, an Anchorage jury awarded $287 million for actual damages and $5 billion for punitive damages. To protect itself in case the judgment was affirmed, Exxon obtained a $4.8 billion credit line from J.P. Morgan & Co.
What is the percentage of pollution urban sprawl has caused?
Urban sprawl contributes significantly to pollution, but quantifying its exact percentage can vary based on location and specific studies. Generally, it is estimated that urban sprawl can increase vehicle emissions and related air pollution by 10-30% due to increased reliance on cars and longer commutes. Additionally, sprawl can lead to habitat destruction and increased runoff, which further exacerbates environmental degradation. Overall, the impact of urban sprawl on pollution is substantial but varies by region and context.
How does a person get to much carbon monoxide while in the hospital?
Carbon monoxide is a poision, it should not be present in any hospital.
How do people affect the ocean animals?
Many people affect oceans by throwing their trash into the sea, killing them and catch them for entertainment for ocean parks.
Sewage Water is sometimes pumped into the ocean which may affect many fish, Oil spills are also very dangerous to both birds such as seagulls and fish.
I hope this was useful.
How does acid rain affect cities?
It rots the steel and damages buildings. The plants and trees die and the fishes die too!!
Do trees stop producing oxygen as they age?
No,They are always producing Oxygen.No. The more leaves the more oxygen.
How does oil affect earthworms?
Earthworms are an important part of the soil environment, and the growth of plants. Oil is deadly to earthworms.
Is the turtle flu caused by pollution?
There is no disease that people get that is officially called Turtle Flu, however, there may be some people who call the gastrointestinal infection caused by the bacteria Salmonella, that is common in turtles, "Turtle Flu". It causes symptoms similar to those of "stomach flu".
Neither "stomach flu" nor Salmonella infections are really flu/influenza. Flu is a respiratory disease in humans caused by a virus and most influenza viruses are not frequently associated with gastrointestinal symptoms.
There are viruses that cause diarrhea and vomiting that are often incorrectly called "stomach flu". The specific virus that causes this is often the Norovirus and not an influenza type of virus.
Salmonella is a bacterium found commonly in turtles and you should be warned to not touch them in the wild, and to be sure if you do that you wash your hands as soon as possible to remove any bacteria housed by the turtle. Salmonella is the common bacteria that causes the most prevalent type of "Food Poisoning". My guess would be that people are using the term Turtle Flu to refer to the diarrhea and vomiting that you get from Salmonella transmitted from turtles to humans. It is bacterial and totally different than viral influenza.
There is likely no relationship between pollution and Salmonella infections or pollution and viral gastroenteritis. Bacteria are everywhere and Salmonella is a common kind of bacteria (especially in chickens and eggs). There is also likely no causative relationship between real influenza and pollution, except air pollution can definitely worsen any respiratory disease or infection and cause complications and secondary symptoms.
Is water you drink pure or polluted?
Unless it is distilled, all water is going to have something in it. Treated tap water has bacteria and chemicals in it but at a level that is supposed to be alright.
Why have scientist tried to reduce pollution?
tried to reduce pollution
What are two ways that human activity causes water pollution and how it can be reduced?
What is one result of air pollution whis is precipitaion that contains more acid than normal?
One result of air pollution is acid rain, which occurs when sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the atmosphere and react with water vapor. This leads to precipitation that contains higher levels of sulfuric and nitric acids than normal. Acid rain can harm ecosystems by damaging forests, acidifying lakes and rivers, and adversely affecting wildlife. Additionally, it can corrode buildings and infrastructure, leading to increased maintenance costs and environmental degradation.
