Prometheus (Mythology)

Zeus really was all about having power over the humans. He saw himself as almighty and thought nothing of the mortals. On the other hand Prometheus was willing to give himself for the humans. He was thought to bring fire to the earth from Mt. Olympus. Also he scalped humans out of clay and they were unhappy so he decided to give them fire to brighten their lives (even though he suffered harsh punishments from Zeus for stealing the flame).

Of course all of this is in Greek Mythology.

Prometheus crafted mankind, due to the actions of Epimetheus mankind was left in a helpless shape.

Prometheus also tricked the gods/Zeus into having the lesser portion of the sacrificial feast; bones for the gods, meat for mankind.

Zeus did not want mankind to have fire.

Prometheus stole fire for mankind; Prometheus was then bound on Mount Kaukasos where his liver was devoured daily by a eagle.

Zeus had Pandora crafted, who became the wife of Prometheus' brother, Epimetheus; mankind was then punished for having meat and fire from the gods by having all the evils released on earth.

It's not clear how long he was bound to the rock. If you base a guess on the time of Zeus to the time of Hercules. It would be 12 generations or 240 years.

Prometheus helped humans (he gave them the fire of the Gods). This made Zeus cross and the then punished Prometheus for doing this in a terrible way.

There is no Roman equivalent of Prometheus. The Roman referred to Prometheus by his Greek name.

Prometheus is the Greek god of fire. There is a gold statue of him at the Super Skate in New York on Herotopia (and there is one in New York in real life). He is used in a few clues in the Herotopia Missions. I love Herotopia!!!!!!!!

'Olympian' This adjective is derived from (Mount) Olympus, where the Greek gods were said to live. It means 'godlike', 'above everyday affairs'..

In his original Greek form, he wasn't the god of anything in particular. He was a titan, of which there were many.

He became known as a champion of humanity and supposedly gave humans the gift of fire.

If i am not mistaken i believe Prometheus brought fire to the people but i would double check on other sites to be absolutely sure.

People are able to be burned and die by fire. They soon invent flamethrowers to burn people standing by them.

Zeus did not refuse. When Prometheus made man, he wanted to bestow upon him a special gift, but his brother, Epimetheus gave all the gifts to the other animals. So, Prometheus, knowing man was special, made him walk upright on two legs, like the gods, and gave him fire to master.

Prometheus then taught man about the gods, and helped them prepare their first offering. Favoring man over his cousin, Prometheus made two offerings to Zeus. The first was the best cuts of meat wrapped in an ox's stomach (something nourishing that looks unpleasant) and the beef bones wrapped in fat (something inedible that looks pleasing... keeping in mind that fat was an important part of the diet). Zeus took the latter, setting the precedent for future offerings. OUtraged that he'd been tricked by Prometheus, Zeus took fire away from Man and hid it on Mt. Olympus.

Prometheus stole the fire, returned it to man, and paid the price by being chained to a rock and having an eagle eat his liver daily. Mankind paid as well, for Zeus sent Pandora with her box of woe to plague mankind forever.

According to the official website it's 119 minutes. I guess the directors cut will take that to 2 hours 15, 2 hours 20. Looking forward to it.

Since Prometheus sided with Zeus in the war between the Titans and the Olympians, he had to fight against Cronus. That is what made them enemies.

So he would find his way in the labyrinth of the Minotaur.

At first, only the Gods had control of fire. The first humans on earth were cold always, and, although Prometheus felt bad for them, Zeus didn't allow them to have fire. Prometheus eventually stole the fire and gave it to men. The other thing he had against him was when the humans were sacraficing to the Gods, Prometheus came up with a clever plan. He made a pile of meat, but covered it with bones and leftovers. Then he took a pile of leftovers and bones and sovered it with shavings of meat, so it looked appealing. When asked which pile they wanted, the Gods chose the pile of bones, but of course, it turned out just to be leftovers. Zeus was very angry about both of these things.

The chronology of the Greek myth is often contradictory. But Prometheus and Zeus never got along, so one might assume that the actions of Prometheus were after Zeus had overthrown Cronus.

Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to mankind. As punishment, Zeus chained him to a rock where an eagle ate his liver every day and, due to Prometheus' immortality, every night his liver grew back.
