Can you add water to a cars radiator?

It is better to add premixed anti-freeze.

How many radiators does a car have?

Normal cars- True "radiators"

1 - engine

1 - heater core

Other "heat exchangers" (I.E. don't have engine coolant running thru them) 1 1 - condenser

1 - evaporator for the air conditioning system

1 - automatic transmission cooler

1 - power steering cooler... For a Total of 6

The extreme end of the spectrum the current record holder is the Veyron with:

3 - radiators

1 - heater core

2 - intercoolers

1 - transmission cooler

1 - differential cooler

1 - engine oil cooler

2 - a/c condensers

1 - evaporator thats 12 in total.

How safe is it to powder coat iron cast steam radiators in a home?

The label on the paint container should have whatever info you want. Figure the radiator temp will not exceed 250*F if you are using steam at 15 psig which is very high for a home system and go from there.

Can you put stop leak in jaguar radiator?

There should be no problem... I have put in my car in a time of emergency... and it was fine until i could take it to the dealership...

Can you put tap water in a car radiator?

Sure.

But do add some antifreeze. Even if you are somewhere that don't get cold, it'll also do a bit of corrosion prevention.

Can you put water in a radiator of a cr80 dirt bike?

Yes but only distilled water, or use engine coolant as distilled water may freeze in the winter and crack you cylinder

Where can you buy a denso marston radiator part number PA66-gf30?

You're hosed (radiator joke....) ok, Even the Denso Marston aftermarket parts web page doesn't show that part number.

Options:

1. If the existing radiator isn't completely trashed, take it to a radiator shop for repair. They can completely disassemble a radiator, straighten/repair everyting and reassemble good as new.

2. Start scouring auto wrecking yards. There are national and international search sites that let you input the part number and description then send. The search goes out to hundreds, maybe thousands of wrecking yards. If somebody has one, they get back to you via e-mail or phone.

3. Check eBay and other online sales sites. They like to brag 'if it exists, it's for sale here' so worth a shot.

Cheers

Explain how a radiator in a room is able to warm the whole room?

warm air particles slowly pass heat energy to all the other air particles

What are the properties of radiator liquid and what is the liquids in radiators?

Liquids in radiators are usually water & oil.

The properties of these are that they heat up fairly quickly and store energy for a long time, releasing heat energy slowly. This makes the radiator effective in what it is designed to do.

What causes pressure to cooling system to force water into overflow reservoir?

Radiator pressure is caused by coolant expanding as it heats. The radiator cap allows that pressure to build until it reaches a certain point (determined by the manufacturer which is why it's important to use a proper cap for the vehicle) then a spring compresses and coolant is allowed past the cap seal. The coolant flows through a hose to the overflow tank.

Now here's the magic part. Back in the day, before reservoir tanks, that excess coolant just fell to the ground, wasted. Now, with the tank, the liquid is actually drawn back into the radiator as the engine (and coolant) cool. The result, an always full radiator

Why does the water i put into the overflow not move to the radiator?

Coolant only moves from the overflow tank/container to the radiator when the engine is cooling. It flows the other way (into the tank) as the engine heats up and coolant expands.

If coolant isn't moving into the radiator when the engine is cooling down there could be a couple of reasons.

1. The engine really never got warm enough to begin pushing coolant to the tank and the radiator is already full.

2. The radiator cap is faulty and should be changed.

3. If the coolant hasn't been changed for many years it's possible (though unlikely the hose linking the tank and radiator is plugged.

Thoughts: Be sure you're adding a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water to the overflow tank, not just water. Note the coolant level in the tank with the engine cold then go for a drive. Check the level again. It should be a little higher. Let the engine cool and the level should be back to the original point. If that's the case you're good to go. If coolant is pushed into the overflow but the level doesn't drop again blame the radiator cap and get a new one.

Cheers

Should you put cold water in an overheated radiator?

No. Let it cool down before you open the radiator cap and then put water in the radiator

Is ice a poor radiator of heat?

Yes, ice is an extremely poor radiator/conductor of heat. It is also the reason why the marine life in antartica is not frozen.

What can you do to stop a small leak from a car radiator?

This depends on the age and value of the car and how much you value it!

If it is a very small (pinhole) leak then there is a material you can buy from most garages, called Radweld (or an equivalent). It is in effect a liquid that becomes a soft plastic with heat. You put it into the radiator water and run the engine until it is hot. As the stuff sets and comes to the small hole it blocks it. Before this stuff was invented the old fashioned answer was to break an egg into the radiator water - which had a similar effect of going in as a liquid and then blocking the hole when it sets (poached). The problem is that these solutions leave a gunge floating around in your engine water system and can potentially block or at least reduce water flow around the whole cooling system. Therefore this solution is best left only as emergency measures or for cars that have very low value.

I have not found a 'liquid metal' glue that can be applied to the outside of the radiator that is avtually up to the job of radiator repairs, although some claim to be. You may have a different experience with these than me. You would need to drain the radiator and clean the area thoroughly before using this stuff to give it good purchase - could be a little fiddly.

The next best method, and for slightly larger holes, is to have the radiator welded. Take the radiator out and take it to a welder. This should only cost a few quid with someone who is proficient.

However, if the leak has not occurred as a result of an impact then it is likely to be caused by corrosion and if this is the case, then when you have fixed this leak there are likely to be more in the near future.

The best solution is to replace the radiator. The size of this job depends on the car you have. There are different qualities and sizes of radiators available (if you intend to maintain the car for a long time you may want to upgrade).

But while you are at it you should also check the hoses too as they could be hard and brittle from age and in need of replacing too. If the radiator is corroding from age then there is a possibility that the hoses have never been replaced either. The hoses should be soft an pliable to allow for engine movement or they too may rupture.

Finally when you refill the colling system, always use a quality anti freeze as, like home radiator systems, good anti-freeze also contains an anti-corrosion agent.

Do you pour coolant in radiator?

Normally you want to put it in the reserve tank normally attached to the washer fluid unless your system is empty. if you open it directly when the engine is hot it surges out and will burn your hand on the cap. If you do not have a reserve make sure the engine is cold preferably before you do any of your running.

What happens if you have no radiator coolant in your auto?

feeds no coolant to your engine, then air gets into your engine which will cause it to seize up and shut down, car will constantly shut off when temperature gets to high(dosent take long at all). will blow your gaskets and engine this way

Where does radiator fluid go?

Unless your radiator has a leak, the radiator fluid stays in the radiator.

Does stop leak for the radiator really work?

Yes in some cases. But will cause problems in the future. Such a clogged coolant passages in your engine and other places. Best to replace the bad part and find the root cause.

How long does a radiator cap last for?

It should outlast the car.

Sometimes, there's a gasket on the underside that can go bad after a decade or so.

What if you put radiator stop leak in the coolant reservoir?

You should try to avoid using a stop-leak product. All you'll do is gunk up your cooling system reducing cooling capacity and you'll never get that stuff out.

If you have a radiator leak, remove it (usually just a matter of an electrical connector for fan(s) a couple of hose clamps and a couple of bolts holding the radiator in a bracket) and take it to a radiator repair shop. A little solder in the right place and you have a like-new radiator with full cooling capacity.

If you've already added stop leak to the reservoir, remove the reservoir and rinse the stuff out. Coolant is drawn out of the reservoir when the engine is cooling down. Best case the hose from the reservoir to the radiator will get plugged. Worst case you could get a lump of sealant that might sit for hours congealing (remember the coolant isn't circulating) before the engine is started again.

Cheers

Does radiator stop leak hurt your car?

Yes. Can clog coolant passages in your engine and other areas.

What happens when radiator upper hose burst?

Most radiator hoses burst due to old age or rubbing against an engine part once it bursts you will lose antifreeze rapidly due to the pressure causing your car to over heat.
