Radiators

A radiator is a heating device that consists of a series of pipes where steam or fluid circulates. There are different types of radiators, namely hot water, steam, fan-assisted, under-floor heating, and electric baseboard.

What does Daewoo Lanos radiator drain plug look like?

It is a black plastic screw type fitting with a butterfly style head on it. It's located at the bottom section of the radiator, inside the engine-bay on the passenger (left if sitting inside the vehicle) side of the car - a few inches below the lower radiator hose.

What does a blown radiator look like?

If your radiator blows it will not hold any liquid

What happens if you don't flush car radiator?

If the rust and metal that builds up in your radiator isn't flushed properly then after time it will clog up your heater core. That's a pretty pricey fix by the way.

How does a car radiator function?

The wind blows against the radiator keeping it cool which cools the engine, if it didn't the pistons would enlarge cause of the extreme temperature and could explode leaving your car a write off!

Where is radiator drainplug located94saturn SC?

A 1994 Saturn SC may not even have a radiator drainplug. In order to find out if the 94 Saturn does have a radiator drainplug, a person can take off the lower hose to see, or look in the car's manuel.

Why does your top radiator get soft while the engine is running?

If the question is: why does your top radiator hose get soft while the engine is running? If that's what u want to know, it's because the thermostat in the engine opens to flow the coolant thru the motor to keep the operating temperature from getting to hot. It's stores water in the radiator which cools the water and the thermostat blocks it until a predetermined temp.

Would a flat radiator hose cause overheating?

If coolant can't cycle through all the components because of the kink then yes but if it doesn't stop or slow the flow then I don't think so

How is heat from the air surrounding the radiator transferred to the air in the rest of the room?

Heat gets into the room in two ways: convection and infrared radiation. The "fins" of a radiator heat the air molecules around it, causing them to expand. As the hot air expands, it rises, creating a vacuum behind it.

How can you connect the radiator fan to turn on went you turn on the car?

This is not necessarily recommended as you will not have any control over the fans operation -

But to answer your question -

Run a new wire/cable from the Ignition circuit (through an inline fuse) to the power cable to the radiator fan.

Select the 'Earth Lead' at the Radiator Fan and connect this to the vehicle Chassis (or bodywork).

The Radiator fan will now run constantly all the time the Ignition is switched on!!

N.B

You must choose a cable that is suitable to supply the power to the Fan - so you will need to do some basic 'Ohm's Law' calculations as this will depend on the 'rating' of the Fan (check the small label or markings on the Fan for it's current consumption) - this will also determine the size of the fuse that will be required....

This would be best left to someone who is competent and capable when dealing with vehicle electrics - there is a possibility that it could end in disaster!

It would be best to install a relay in the wiring so as not to overheat the circuit

Can performing a pressure check for leaks in coolant system cause a crack in my radiator pleas help?

No, the system is only checked at normal operating pressure.

No, the system is only checked at normal operating pressure.

Why is there oil in the radiator of a bobcat 310?

Oil in the radiator will usually only come from either the engine, power steering or hydraulic oil cooler.

Check the various for low fluid levels and you will have partly diagnosed which system has the fault. depending on where the fluid is coming from will determine the course of action for rectification.

Bobcats are usually high revving so check that the engine oil is at least half way up the dipstick

How do I add water to my home radiator system while bleeding the air out?

At you boiler, near your expansion tank, is a pressure reducing valve that puts water into the system automatically. The PRV should be set to maintain a pressure 4 psig more than the height of the system. i.e.

PSIguage = (height of system x .43 PSIg / ft) + 4 psig

i.e = ( 24 ' from fill point to top of system * .43 psi / ft) + 4

= 10.3 + 4 = 14.4 psig (set point of automatic makeup water valve)

FYI: PRV valves normally come set at 12 psig out of the box.

The fact you need to bleed air would lead me to believe that either your PRV set point is not high enough to keep air out the system, or your pump is located upstream of you makeup water point (pumping to the makeup water point) rather than pumping away from it.

Why does water bubble up through your expansion tank coming off your radiator and the engine gets very hot?

That is happening because you have a leak somewhere in the system and it is not allowing it to build pressure. when there is no leaks it would not boil over because the pressure in the system would in a way compress the water from becoming a vapor. and that pressure can be getting lost threw a crack in the radiator, a hole in a hose, a loose hose, a bad radiator cap pressure seal, or a crack in the block.

Where do i add radiator sealant in 2000 saturn?

On a 2000 Saturn you should probably replace whatever part is leaking rather than gum it up with a sealant.

If you must use a sealant you would remove the pressurized radiator cap.(This cap may not be on the radiator on all models. It may be located on a plastic surge tank located separate from the radiator.) Once the engine has reached full operating temperature add the sealant in to the rest of the coolant. Top off the coolant and replace cap. Run engine or drive for 10 minutes. Then shut the car off and allow to cool completely.

NOTE:Radiator sealants will not stop leaks of rotating shaft seals(water pumps). Additionally, modern engines such as the ones used in Saturns have tight engine clearances and small water passages through aluminum parts. Sealants are a safe bet to use on the over-sized cast iron engines of days of yore, but a modern engine is isn't made for that kind of gunk surging through its veins.

What would cause a radiator hose to blow off?

I had this happen to me on my ford focus and it could have been two things either a bad water pump or a clogged raidiator if your hose blows off you are having pressure build up some where you just need to find out where its coming from you can also look at your oil color see if its like a milky color this and or your car having smoke come out of your tail pipe could indicate a blown head gasket.

What do it mean when the radiator boil in to your over flow?

It might be clogged, thus not allowing enough flow

It means that the excess coolant is going where it is supposed to. The coolant expands when hot and goes to the over flow reservoir.

Would red clay in radiator cause truck to run rich?

no the red clay like stuff is transmission fluid in your radiator probably leaking from your transcooler

Where is the fuse box for the radiator fan?

If you are referring to a late-model Chevy Venture (or similar Chevy), the relays (there is more than one) that control the fans are located in the under hood fuse box. I have included a link to one such fuse box, which has pictures and diagrams of the fuses and relays inside.

Good Luck!

What is the purpose of a radiator petcock?

To drain the radiator when it is time to change the coolant.

Where is the radiator drain plug on a 2007 Expedition?

Look in over the right front tire. There is a red knob near the lower read face of the radiator behind the wiring loom. Turn left to open the amount you wish to drain the radiator. Tighten by turning right to stop flow of coolant. Space is tight to get to the red knob.

What is the bleed valve on the radiator?

its a valve to let the air out of the system

Is it good to put distilled water into a car radiator?

Yes as long as it is mixed 50-50 with coolant/antifreeze.
