Rammstein was first founded by lead guitarist Richard Kruspe with drummer Christoph Schneider, bassist Oliver Riedel and lead vocalist Till Lindemann. The four of them entered the Berlin Senate Metro Beat Contest in 1994, a contest for amateur bands, which they won, enabling them to record a professional demo as part of their reward. After listening to the demo, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers became interested in the band and joined their project. The final member to join was keyboardist/pianist Christian Flake Lorenz, who was hesitant at first, but was eventually convinced, completing Rammstein as it is known today.

There have been no line up changes in the band's 15 year history.

Both bands are great. Rammstein is probably more functional because they have not disbanded like Pantera did.

The band Rammstein took its name from the Ramstein Air Base where a tragedy involving planes occured during a flight show.

The word "Rammstein" doesn't really exist, but it could be explained as a different version of the "Rammbock" ("battering ram"), which would make it a "battering ram made of stone".

It is more than likely either Sehnsucht, or Mutter...But with the massive success of their latest album Liebe ist fur alle da, I feel these two may have been surpassed already, and the large success of the band in general, its hard to say and there isn't a lot of sales figures I can find online.

Rammstein is a German industrial metal band. Du Hast is performed in the German language by Rammstein. Of the two versions of the song, one is entirely in German, and the other version is partially in English intermixed with German.

Rammstein's exact genre has been a subject of debate among critics, though they are most commonly generalised as Neue Deutsche Härte and/or Industrial metal. They are also known for containing strong elements of various different genres, including hard rock, heavy metal, lots of electronica/techno, grunge and influences of punk rock, goth rock and some pop. They've been described as progressive metal in the past as well, though their genre and sound is really all up to whatever the listener thinks, to be honest. Rammstein is mainly an Neue Deutsche, Industrial metal and groove metal band) However with this, most of their music such as Rammstein - Sonne contains other kinds of genres such as Hard Rock, Heavy metal and techno, Also some goth, punk rock and pop genres are in some of Rammstein's songs.

Hell no! Their are no female singers in the band although they have recorded songs with female guest singers.

Chances are, Rammstein didn't even do that song.

The Dutch parody, "Neem een ander in de maling (Barbie Girl)" by Ome Henk, is often mistaken for a German version attributed to Rammstein. (I have doubts such a version even exists.)

Come on now, you don't think a heavy metal band would sing that?!

Richard Kruspe and Paul Landers have both stated in several recent interviews, respectively, that they are planning to tour America the autumn of 2010, and would like to take their full show and all the theatrics through here at least a few times. The rest of the band have also said they would like to perform in the big cities here.

Rammstein as a band has explicitly stated they do not support the NSDAP or their beliefs of racial superiority. The reason for popular belief in that they are supporters of Nazi Germany stems from controversial album artwork (Herzeleid) that has been interpreted as supporting the "master race". And of course, Till Lindemann (lead vocals) has been falsely associated with mimicking Adolf Hitler because of his unique way of rolling his R's when he sings in German.

The usual reasons: ignorance, stereotyping, jealousy and discrimination, also because most people cannot understand what he is saying.

First of all, most of the lyrics are repeatable. Second of all - their live show on the stage is hilariously wrong. Third of all - lame excuse for a metal band. Usually teenagers will try to adjust themselves towards that type of metal absolutely forgetting the principles of music and what metal stands against.

Many Germans are quite critical of the band, and dislike them for varying reasons, but like anywhere else, they have avid fans there, and not-so-avid fans there.
