This is actually where they start, pressure from consipation, labour or hard bowel movements force them to the outside of your anus.

Without actually seeing it or having any more info...it could possibly be a hemorrhoid. They can protrude from the rectal area. My grandmother once told me that doctors used to "burn them out," I'm assuming cauterization was used, doesn't sound like it was very comfortable. I've also heard old time remedies such as that doctors would "tie them off" or use a rubberband around them to cut off circulation and rid the person of the problem. Sometimes, in present day, surgery might be used to tuck them back into the body so they don't protrude and cause irritation. They are caused by lack of fiber in the diet a lot of the time, (because a person has to push and strain a lot while emptying the bowels,) but heavy lifting can cause them as well (I have know a lot of people that have had that problem due to the nature of their job & the heavy lifting.) Wiping too vigorously can cause more inflammation as well. That is what it sounds like it might be but it would be prudent for you or your loved one to have a doctor take a look at it anyway. In the meantime, the person with this problem should up his or her fiber intake to keep stools soft. I know there are OTC remedies for hemorrhoids but these will only treat the symptoms and not the main problem. Definitely go see a doctor, though, to make sure that there isn't any other underlying problem. The sooner the better. In the meantime; go to a health food store: Whole Foods Market or Trader Joe's both probably carry this product-it's a cream with natural substances instead of a lot of chemicals. It works really well and will not cause irritation (as the product advertised on TV does.) As long as no one is allergic to the plant extracts in the cream. So read the label first. And see the doctor!! Or nurse practitioner...whichever you prefer. Good luck with this problem. It is no picnic to deal with. Oh, and a P.S.) If you or the person with this problem has a job where you need to sit a lot, get one of those donuts that pharmacies sell; they help out quite a bit to keep pressure off of that area.

The rectum is where faeces (poop) comes out, it isn't IN any body cavity.

This could be for a number of reasons, all of which require expedient medical care. Rectal bleeding could be from hemoroids, irritated rectal polyps, anal fissures, or intestinal problems. Bleeding from the penis could be a sign of a bladder infection, or even testicular cancer. As the rectum and the penis, though close together on the body, are internally entirely separate organs / systems, bleeding from both openings at the same time is an indication that something is definitely going on in the person's health which requires a doctor's evaluation. Also, one wants to be very prompt with medical attention with the reproductive system - delays can permanently effect sterility.

Yes, the large intestine ends at the rectum. The digestive system starts at the mouth, goes through the esophagus, goes through the stomach, then the small intestine, the large intestine follows, and then whatever waste products are left over pass through the rectum and out through the anus.

This is a personal quiestion but the answer is simply some people eat things which when digested give of a worse smell then other foods or some people have a very bad digetstion gut which makes any food smell very bad !
