Yes, in 1976, Cheap Trick opened for Rush at a concert in Rockford IL. Cheap Trick never actually toured with Rush, but they did play a couple of other gigs as Rush's opening act.

Perhaps you are thinking of the band Big Audio Dynamite II. This was a group founded by Mick Jones, who had been in the original incarnation of the band, when it was just called Big Audio Dynamite. This version of the band had a #32 hit in 1991 with the song "Rush."

The band members of Rush are Geddy Lee the singer, keyboardist, and bassist, Alex Lifeson the guitarist, and Neil Peart, the drummer. Geddy Lee's real name is actually Gary Lee and Alex Lifesons real name is Alex Zivojinovic. The original drummer of Rush was John Rutsey and was replaced by Neil when they became famous and went on tour in 1974.

Not as far as I know. Geddy has a very distinctive appearance, and he is proud of it (as he should be). He has never tried to look different, other than adapting to certain styles of fashion in the 1970s and 1980s. But what you see is the real Geddy.

Not that I know of. In June 2014, a blog made that claim, but nobody at Rush's management has ever confirmed it, so at this point, it still sounds like a rumor (or a wish). The only current documentary about Rush was produced in 2010 and the band (as well as other musicians, friends, fans, and some of the band's family members) played themselves. I would seriously doubt it. Alex does enjoy partying sometimes, but I have not seen him performing live in concert under the influence of anything. He takes great pride in his music, and saves his partying for other times. That said, Alex is a jokester and sometimes acts crazy on stage; this is not because he was drinking, but rather, it's part of his sense of humor.

Rush have never hidden the fact that they are Canadian; further, for many years, they have made their home in Canada and maintained ties with the Canadian music industry, as well as with the music business in the US. Alex, Geddy and Neil have also been strong supporters of several Canadian charities, and have consistently raised funds or made donations. In addition, the members of Rush have a good reputation: they are admired as musicians, and they are not associated with scandal or excess. Thus, their success over a forty-plus year career is something even Canadians who are not hard rock fans can be proud of.
