Is there sales tax in MA?

Yes. Last year it was changed from 5% to 6.25%. Two interesting tidbits, though:

-MA has a "sales tax holiday" (usually in August) at least once a year

-If you purchase something online and the company has no location in MA, you are not charged sales tax.

What all can Over the road drivers claim on taxes?

I'd like to be able to answer this for you, but it is impossible. It is entirely situational and depends on many, many factors...like if your an employee or not (W-2 or 1099). What your employer provides and if you get reimbursed at all (and how) for it...many industries have fairly common guidelines that make certain things deductible, where others have others. The big thing is, if your an owner operator or working for the Co as a driver. If your an owner...there are many many things that come into play, as your actually running your own business and all the expenses of that are normally deductible against any income the biz makes. Then there are accounting things, like depreciation of the truck, and other equipment - just a zillion. It really is worthwhile to have someone familar with the field do them with you...and maybe provide some accounting services as some planning can well pay for itself. Frankly, most "standard" employees, just going in and doing a job and getting paid don't have any unreimbursed work expenses that would qualify. The most common would be clothing, like a uniform, that is required and cannot be worn otherwise (a suit wouldn't qualify, nor would jeans...even if only used at work). I can see where even if you are an employee, you could well have certain lodging expenses, incurred that aren't on the Co...maybe some other things - (hire any day labor to load or unload...provide gifts to dock managers, etc.) Sorry...tens of thousands of pages of tax laws and a fair number will involve, or could involve, what your asking!

What are some types of sales tax?

Sales taxes are either general and selective. It is not to be confused with the two types of taxes in general, which are:

Can you make deductions to your taxes without receipt?

You need to be able to support the positions you take on your return. Receipts certainly help do that...but there are other methods too. Frankly, the main problem seen isn't just the receipt side, it's the support side...that what is claimed as a deduction ISN'T really deductible (people just expect or want it to be), with or without a receipt.

Is discount revenue from state sales tax early payment taxable?

Yes, you collected it and didn't have to pay it...in the old days, it was called comission on sales tax collections

How do you solve a problem of sales tax and discounts?

(Note: Using A Calculator Helps)

For tax, let's say something is $25, and the sales tax is 7%, you could do 25 times (multiply) 7%, you get $1.75, now add $1.75 to $25.

For discounts it is a little different. If you have something that is $75, and the discount is 20% off, you would do $75 times (multiply) 20%, you get $15, now subtract $15 from $75 and then calculate the tax.

Do you pay sales taxes for advertisement services?

Sales Taxes are by state and there are differences...servie and advertising taxes are areas of many differences! However, as a general rule, these are taxable...for example - flyers that are inserted in papers in many states are not...but the services to make the flyers are. Your supplier probably understands the taxation of their product in different markets fairly well.
