He was shot By Bertha Franklin a Manager at the Hacienda Motel in 1964. The story was that Sam Cooke was planning to start his own record company, and he had been working on some musical stuff. Him and some of his people were staying at this Motel. Although Sam Cooke was married, he had brought a Prostitute to the Motel. While he was in the bathroom the Prostitute took off with his wallet and money. So He complained to the Manager Bertha Franklin about his stolen wallet and cash. So she pulled a gun out on him, and he snatched it from her hand. That made her furious that she grabbed her gun from him and shot him with it. The true story on his life shows footage of the Manger who shot Sam, and she confessed to shooting him in self defense.
